There are many gardening enthusiasts, but not everyone knows the method that we will explain in this article, which consists of the absence of water to make plants grow.

Growing a garden

You got it right, the element that we all believed was essential for growing a good garden can actually be replaced.

This guide will surely be of interest to many, in fact tips for growing a good vegetable garden are becoming more popular and this has become a hobby that unites many people of different ages.  There are even those who create them at home  , as they do not have an outdoor space.

But how can you take advantage of the innovative  Fukoka method  , which consists of removing water?

Who is Fukoka?

Let’s start by clarifying who Fukoka really is. Most people may not have any idea, but he is a well-known Japanese botanist and philosopher, a pioneer of a so-called “non-doing” agriculture.

Fukoka, who died in 2008, has always been interested in  natural agriculture  , that is, agriculture that does not require much artificiality but is developed simply thanks to Mother Nature and the substances present in the soil. At the age of 25, the biologist began to question the preconceptions about agriculture that we are all familiar with.

He therefore began to develop his own model of ecological and environmentally friendly farming. His research aimed to  minimise human intervention and therefore eliminate agricultural techniques  .

Strongly linked to Buddhist philosophy, Fukoka has always embraced the belief that  the universe is constantly changing and does not require human intervention  . In fact, everything happens spontaneously and, for the biologist, even cultivated products are capable of self-sustaining.

The Fukoka method

The ultimate expression of the work carried out by the scientist is precisely the  agricultural method  that bears his name and that we are going to explore today. This modus operandi faithfully reproduces the conditions that he himself defines as natural.

Fukoka’s school of thought is followed by many, even today his method is still followed, which also affects farmers who work the land in a traditional way.

In short,  the soil is not prepared by plowing before planting, and germination occurs on the surface, after the seeds are mixed with clay (only if necessary). Among the basic principles of his theory is that of  not using pesticides at all, but rather we can introduce antagonistic species.

On the other hand, do not weed or prune (if we are talking about fruit trees). In fact, you should return to the soil as much of what you produce as possible, material that will serve as fertilizer. In this way, the soil is always covered and does not erode or become depleted.

But the most revolutionary aspect is undoubtedly the elimination of water. In short, we are going to do the opposite of what we were taught, that is,  no treatment of the soil, no pruning, no elimination of insects and apparently, no irrigation  .

In fact, the techniques explained so far ensure the sustenance of our vegetable plants, this is the famous concept of self-sufficiency of nature studied by the philosopher throughout his life. In fact, it is able to  develop and reproduce even without water  , provided that the other necessary measures are respected.

In short, a prosperous and economical garden at any time of the year, try it!
