DIY detergent

In recent years, the idea of conscious and ecological consumption has increasingly made its way. Many products used daily for home cleaning contain large quantities of chemical materials that, once disposed of, are definitely not environmentally friendly. So here is a suggestion on how to make both eco-friendly and cheap detergent at home.

Homemade detergent: degreasing and effective

The floor is the surface that most attracts dirt and bacteria. Whether it’s at home or not, walking with shoes, cooking or even simply dusting the shelves, cause dust and dirt to settle and be easily moved from one room to another.

Making a homemade cleaner

There are countless floor cleaning detergents on the market and are distinguished by type of floor, fragrance, finish, etc. What few people know, however, is that it is possible to make an effective, sanitizing and inexpensive floor cleaner yourself.
The main ingredients needed are definitely in everyone’s homes and are baking soda, white vinegar and, of course, water.

The properties of the ingredients of homemade detergent, why is it so effective?

How can a homemade cleaner compete with the most well-known and expensive soap brands? Simple, thanks to the properties and qualities of its ingredients.

Baking soda is often used in the kitchen to sanitize fruit and vegetables, precisely because its main properties are antibacterial, antimicrobial and disinfectant. Among other things, baking soda is often used to remove stains and deodorize clothing, as a great ally against unpleasant odors.

White vinegar has countless sanitizing and disinfecting properties. Although it was created to be used in the kitchen as a condiment, it is also often used in domestic cleaning. In addition to eliminating odors, white vinegar eliminates limescale, polishes and disinfects, as well as removing stains from fabrics and some surfaces.

Making a homemade detergent

Preparing your own detergent is not complicated at all, just dose the ingredients properly to be able to start using a product that will be your great ally in cleaning the house.

How to wash floors with natural ingredients

To start you need a bottle, even a plastic one, that allows you to shake the mixture you are going to create. Pour 100 ml of water into the bottle, preferably lukewarm so that the ingredients mix in the best possible way. In proportion to the water, half a tablespoon of white vinegar and a tablespoon of baking soda are used. If you have large spaces to clean you can double or triple the doses, so for 200 ml of water you will need a tablespoon of white vinegar and two of baking soda.

Then close the bottle and shake well, until the ingredients have come together in a single homogeneous mixture.
If you want a scented cleanser, you can choose essential oils to add while mixing. The proportions of the ingredients should not be changed if you decide to add essential oils. The advice is to use an essential oil with a natural composition, so as not to have too strong, unpleasant or chemical odors.

You will then have obtained a natural detergent for cleaning the floor. The mixture does not require rinsing, just pass it on the ground normally, with a mop or a wrung out cloth and wait for drying to enjoy the result.
