This spring fertilizer for strawberries exceeds any expectation: the berries are always big and sweet.
Fertilizing strawberries in April with a non-standard fertilizer can be the key to a bumper harvest. I have tried this method for 6 years and it always shows impressive results. If you want to get a rich crop of strawberries, make sure to use this fertilizer on warm spring days, when the air temperature reaches at least +15°C. I usually carry out this procedure in the second half of April or closer to its end, depending on weather conditions.
The key component of fertilization is dry yeast, which serves as a catalyst to activate the microflora in the soil. This process speeds up the conversion of organic materials in the garden bed and makes micronutrients available to be absorbed by the strawberry’s root system.
To prepare the fertilizer, dilute a standard packet of dry yeast in a 3-liter jar, add 3 tablespoons of sugar and let it ferment for a day. Then pour the infusion into a 10-liter bucket and add chlorine-free well water.
To enhance the effect, I add to the infusion a drop of Baikal M1 concentrate, a well-known EM drug that, in combination with yeast, can double strawberry production. I also pour a glass of kefir or milk into the solution to activate the beneficial fungi in the soil. After this solution is added, the minerals are transformed from the oxide form to the chelate form, which is preferable for plant nutrition. As a result of such fertilization, the yield of strawberries is doubled, thanks to optimal nutrition and stimulation of root growth.
