Every gardener has his own secret to getting strong tomato seedlings and their care begins immediately after the first sprouts appear. There are two views regarding the first feeding of seedlings: some prefer to wait until harvesting, while others believe that early feeding contributes to the rapid strengthening and growth of seedlings.

I belong to the latter group, I have tried several types of fertilizers on young plants and have generally had excellent results. The optimal period for the first feeding of tomatoes is the interval between the fourth and seventh day of their life, when the seedlings are actively laying the foundation for the future root system.

For a successful diet, it is important to comply with two rules:

  1. Use only diluted, weak fertilizers.
  2. Water carefully so as not to damage the fine shoots.

Of the many supplements I tried, the greatest effect was demonstrated by an infusion made with natural ingredients. You will need 1 liter of water, where the following ingredients are added for the infusion. The first component is banana peel, which is rich in potassium and also contains nitrogen, iron, magnesium and vitamins, ideal for the growth of tomatoes. Use the peel of half a banana.

The next ingredient is onion peel, known for its nutritional properties and its ability to protect seedlings from pathogens due to flavonoids, rutin, and quercetin. The skin of a medium onion is enough.

The mixture is infused in a warm place for two days, after which it is filtered and 1 drop of iodine is added to it. The resulting infusion is slightly concentrated and does not require dilution. Each plant is watered with a teaspoon of this product.
