The geranium is an integral attribute of the interior of many homes, thanks to its undemanding character and its ability to delight us with abundant and colorful flowers even in the coldest months.

How and when to feed geranium?

My mood improves significantly when I see the homemade geraniums blooming. Today I want to share with you a wonderful fertilization recipe suggested to me by a flower lover I know with extensive experience in agronomy. He gave me a lot of valuable advice that I now gladly share.

The active flowering period of geraniums in our homes occurs in late winter or early spring, when the sun’s rays begin to visit our windows more frequently. This is the ideal time to fertilize, stimulating the plant to form buds. Few people know this, but geraniums have very useful yeasts that, if used correctly, can become a real catalyst for growth and flowering.

Yeast fertilization works according to the bokashi principle, activating the work of beneficial fungi in the soil and improving its fertility. This helps to strengthen the root system and stimulates the appearance of buds.

Yeast nutrition recipe for geraniums:

To prepare it, a 3-liter jar is used, in which half a teaspoon of dry yeast and 4 teaspoons of sugar are added. In addition, you will need the peel of a banana cut into small pieces and the peel of a medium onion. All components are poured into a jar, which is then filled with boiled water and cooled to the top. The resulting mixture is mixed well and left in a warm place for 3 days. Thanks to the yeasts, the beneficial substances of onion and banana peels will pass into the water, creating a nutrient solution rich in vitamins and microelements.

This infusion is used to water each flower, measuring 200 to 400 grams depending on its size. The remaining fertilizer can be used for other houseplants and even seedlings, because it already has the optimal concentration for plant nutrition.
