The Dirty Dozen was also published that year: EWG , short for the Environmental Working Group, an American non-profit organization committed to protecting the environment, developed a classification of fruits and vegetables to determine the amount of pesticides. Here.
Fresas won the gold medal and placed first at the 2023 Dirty Ten . Unfortunately, when they come from traditional, non-organic plants, they are treated with chemical additives that naturally tend to absorb like sponges.
In fact, you have to take into account that they do not have a protective shell and therefore nothing to protect them from being attacked by parasites or toxic substances.
However, it cannot be done without them: they contain potassium, manganese, folic acid, vitamin C and antioxidants, very useful for heart and skin health. In short, they are a panacea for the body.
There is only one solution: wash well! Naturally! But how can you be sure you’ve removed all the contaminating waste? Shall we explain it to you?

Always wash strawberries before eating. Don’t do it in advance! Even if you dry them very well, moisture accelerates their rotting.
However, there are at least three ways to remove pesticides when they are present (if they are sure they are not present, we can only be sure if we buy organic produce or grow it ourselves!). There are at least <> of them.
The first is to use water and salt : dissolve a teaspoon in a hot cup and let it cool completely. Then soak the strawberries for two minutes and then rinse them under running water. This solution also helps to get rid of mosquitoes and insects.
But that’s not the only solution: you can also make a mixture of red wine and vinegar. Dilute a glass of water in half and let it decant for ten minutes. A weakly alcoholic acidic solution completely avoids toxic substances.
Finally, there is also a method to wash strawberries with water and baking soda: one tablespoon for every liter of water . Put the fruit in a bowl and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then rinse them individually and remove the stem only when it is dry.
Remember that none of these surgeries are a waste of time, but rather an investment in your health!
