Flies and mosquitoes are the real bane of summer.
They enter our homes with open windows, and to get rid of their bulky presence, we often resort to insecticides, which are quite toxic to us and the planet.
Moreover, they make it impossible to live outside on summer nights: eating or quietly enjoying a bit of fresh air seems like a feat that is only possible after being sprayed with anti-spray: let’s light the zampironi! Nature is almost like a stepmother in this case. However, let’s not forget that she is first and foremost a mother and provides us with very effective means that are not toxic to humans and the environment.
With a little ancient wisdom and the right gestures, we can enjoy spring and summer undisturbed.
So let’s use these natural poisons that our grandmothers already knew.

Natural poisons against flies and mosquitoes.
Go to the pantry and get the pepper . This spice, so popular in the kitchen, is really unpleasant for the sensitive sense of smell of insects. Simply prepare a bowl of ground paprika and add a pinch of water. Place it in strategic places in the house, near doors and windows, and you will get rid of its unpleasant presence.
Eucalyptus oil is also a powerful repellent against flies and mosquitoes: a few drops in a diffuser and two tablespoons of water will brighten your day. You will breathe deeply, they will fly with outstretched wings.
If you like gardening, get a pot of basil and take care of it: it becomes an invisible barrier against mosquitoes and pests and creates a protective shield for your kitchen.
You can make a kind of insect repellent from an orange or lemon and cloves : stick them on citrus fruits , then cut them into slices and put them on a plate. Place it in the room where these unpleasant creatures spend most of their time, enjoy its intoxicating aroma and free yourself from their annoying proximity.
If that’s still not enough for you, we also have a foolproof method of making homemade fly paper .
Mixed:
- 5 spoons of sugar,
- 1 tablespoon of water,
- 2 spoons of honey
put it in a pot and set it on fire. Let it caramelize, then turn off the heat and let it cool completely.
Meanwhile, cut a few strips of cardboard and hang them on a string.
Cover both sides of the paper with a sugar and honey solution and hang the bug wreath on the window.
Simple, cheap, ecological!
