Orchid, yellow leaves: discover this remedy The orchid is a beautiful flower, a symbol of passion, when it is given to us it usually has a very strong meaning, in addition, it is also a very delicate plant and if we want it to last over time in all its splendor, we must learn to take care of it in the right way.
Orchid, yellow leaves: let’s learn to observe them
If you want to take care of a plant, it is very important to learn to observe it closely so that you notice problems immediately. A healthy orchid plant has full-bodied and shiny leaves, the flower is straight and well open, as long as we see it like this, we have nothing to worry about.
Yellow leaves
If we notice that some leaves lose their beautiful green color and begin to turn yellow, it is better to take cover immediately, also because this characteristic can be the symptom of various problems, if we do not immediately do the right thing what is right, taken in time, however, with the different attempts we will be able to save it, otherwise it could die before we understand what it is.
Yellow and black
If the leaves are yellow but have black spots, in all probability we are watering our orchid too much, the remedy for this problem is to transplant the beer with dry soil and from that moment on reduce the amount of water we have given it until that moment to regulate ourselves before watering, we wait until the soil is dry by putting our finger in the pot (often the surface of the soil dries out, but the inside of the pot is still wet.) Then, if we are afraid of watering too much water anyway, we can submerge the pot in a container with three or four cm of water and let the orchid soak for an hour so that it only absorbs what it needs. If we really don’t want to transplant everything and the problem is at the beginning, we could try putting paper towels in the soil and letting them absorb the excess water, but if the situation doesn’t improve in a few days, we would be forced to change the soil and the pot.
Yellow Yellow
If the leaves appear yellow and dry, the problem could be due to too much sunlight or drafts, the plants need light and air, but the orchid should not absorb them directly, so we try to move our green friend to a well-lit and airy place, but not directly exposed to light or wind. Another option for yellow and dry leaves could be low humidity, which should be around 40% for the orchid to feel good, also in this case the solution is to remove it from its location and place it in a more humid place.
Yellow with holes
If we look at our orchid, we see that the leaves are not only yellow, but also have small holes, the most likely cause is the infestation of red spider mites, in this case we should also see some, the home remedy to eliminate them is quite simple, just boil a few cloves of garlic in half a liter of water, Let the solution cool, put it in an evaporator, and spray the mixture on the sheets every 3/4 of a day until the situation normalizes.
Uneven yellow
If the color of the leaves of our orchid is spotted yellow, it is almost certainly the fault of the cochineal (a parasite), to eliminate it, it is enough to dissolve a handful of Marseille soap flakes in a liter of water and sprinkle on the plant every 2/3 of a day.
Unidentified Yellow
If our plants have yellow leaves, but we cannot identify them in any of the previous categories, it may be that we have a potassium deficiency, in which case it will be enough to use a fertilizer rich in this element to solve the situation or, if we have already thought about changing the pot, then we will directly replace the soil with one rich in potassium.
