Does the shirt have narrow sleeves and don’t button? Experienced tailors reveal how to do it with just the help of a needle.

Does the shirt have narrow sleeves and no longer buttons? We must not throw it away but make it wearable again, with this technique of seamstresses. It’s impossible not to know it: all you need is a needle and in a few seconds the garment will be your favorite again.
Shirt with narrow sleeves: the needle method
How many times have you tried on a perfect shirt, but with slightly narrow sleeves? Fortunately, there is a simple trick that will allow you to widen the sleeves of a shirt without having to resort to expensive tailoring changes and all you need is a needle.
Materials needed:
- Sewing needle;
- Thread of the same color as the shirt;
- Pin.
Start by placing the shirt on a flat surface and ironing it to remove any wrinkles. Make sure you have all the necessary materials available. Put on your shirt and look at the sleeves to find where they are tightest. Usually, it is in the upper forearm or around the elbow. Mark this spot with a pin to make it easier for the next work.
Take the needle and thread of the same color as the shirt. Start sewing along the inner side of the sleeve, starting at the cuff seam and working upwards, following the shape of the sleeve. Be sure to sew in small, even stitches for added strength. Continue sewing to the pinned stitch, creating a gradual expansion of the width.

After sewing along both sides of the sleeves, try on the shirt to evaluate the enlargement. If the fit is still too tight, you can repeat the sewing process to increase the width even further. If, on the other hand, you have achieved the desired result, cut off the excess thread and make sure that all the seams are well secured.
Once you are satisfied with the result, you can give a professional finish to the work performed. Check that the seams are hidden on the inside of the sleeve and iron it again to make the shirt flawless.
What are the advantages of readapting a piece of clothing?
Many people are faced with the dilemma of what to do with a piece of clothing that, over time, has become too tight. However, rather than abandoning it in the back of the closet, there is a smart and creative alternative: the recovery of the garment through readaptation.
Recovering a tight piece of clothing saves you money. Rather than buying a new garment to replace it, you can simply retrofit the one you already have in your closet. In addition, you also save on the cost of tailoring changes, which can often be expensive.

The repurposing of clothing promotes a sustainable lifestyle. Fast-paced, disposable fashion has a significant environmental impact due to the mass production and disposal of clothes. Recovering a tight piece of clothing means reducing the amount of textile waste and contributing to more sustainable fashion.
