Year-round flower fertilizer: ingredients
Nurserymen in the sector have disclosed their method, namely the preparation and use of a natural fertilizer based on banana peel. This ingredient is considered as organic waste, but should never be thrown away and reused. To do this, experts explain step by step how to act.
Every month this type of fertilizer is poured directly on the plant to donate all kinds of nutrients. In summer, it can also be used once every 15 days. The ingredients are few and natural, namely banana peels and natural white rice.

Take the banana peels and put them in a container with water and 4 tablespoons of rice. Leave to act and macerate for two consecutive days. Strain the contents and then water the plants. The presence of nitrogen, potassium and calcium is very high and the fertilizer is rich in nutrients. If not used all, it can be stored for 2 days.
Alternatives as a natural fertilizer to banana peel
Also with the help of banana peels, other excellent fertilizers can be made, to be used once a month or once every 15 days in summer.
This is a hot alternative and it goes like this:
- Cut the peels into pieces with the help of a cutting board. The amount is about 5 husks per liter of water;
- Fill a saucepan with a liter of water and wait for it to boil;
- At the right time, add the peels and let it boil for 15 minutes.
Turn off the heat and then let the contents cool. You can proceed by blending the peels with a blender, or filter the liquid. The same can be stored inside a plastic bottle to be used – with water – to water the plants.

There is a third alternative to consider, with banana peels being placed inside a baking dish. The smooth outer part should be positioned downwards.
It is cooked at a low temperature until they have a black appearance. Take the peels and chop everything into small pieces, storing the product in an airtight container. In this case, they are to be inserted into the soil, once a month, for a nutrient booster.
