Centipedes can also invade the house in the summer: if we find them in the rooms we must immediately do one thing.

With the return of summer and high temperatures, we see many insects appearing again, both in the house and on windowsills or in the garden. In these hot months, in fact, everyone returns to deal with flies and mosquitoes, but also with ants and many other types of insects. It is not so common to see a centipede walking inside the house. These arthropods can be a problem that is anything but trivial, since their presence in the home can be a sign of a real infestation. However, centipedes are much more likely to choose the garden, as it is there that they can find greater amounts of wood, leaves, and bark. These are, in fact, the preferred elements of centipedes to proliferate.
Centipede in the house, the invasion has started: what you have to do
Centipedes, as mentioned, can also enter the house, taking advantage of openings that can be found on the wall, in doors, windows and so on. Centipedes will really only need a small hole to slip into the house and invade every room of the house.

How can we stop them? This is a complicated undertaking, especially if centipedes are very small. The youngest, in fact, enter the house undisturbed, since very often it is not even possible to identify them due to their small size. As soon as they manage to access the various rooms, they start the infestation.
What are the areas of the house that centipedes prefer to proliferate? Centipedes prefer the most humid areas of the house, so they will choose to invade the basement and garage in particular.
However, if we also find them in other corners, such as behind wardrobes, it means that our home has a serious humidity problem.
To check this aspect and check if the degree of humidity in our home is really excessive, we can use a hygrometer, an instrument (it can be found both analogue and digital) that in a few minutes detects the percentage of humidity present in the rooms.
If the hygrometer shows a degree of humidity above the threshold, it is necessary to intervene with a good dehumidifier.
Diatomaceous earth, an exceptional repellent: no more centipedes
By lowering the humidity of the house, in fact, the rooms of our home will return to being a truly inhospitable environment for arthropods. In addition to checking the humidity using the hygrometer, we can also adopt other solutions to eliminate centipedes.

In fact, there are natural repellents that represent a real nightmare for centipedes. Think, for example, of diatomaceous earth, which acts as a natural insecticide and neutralizes the attack of all species of arthropod insects, including centipedes.
The granules that make up this natural repellent are so sharp that they cause cuts to centipedes: insects will die from dehydration. However, it is good to remember that the invasions of centipedes inside homes are not so frequent.
On the contrary, it is much more likely to find them in large numbers in gardens and vegetable gardens, especially in the summer.
