The Municipality of Milan has decided to ask its citizens for help in starting the cleaning of the green spaces of the territory in order to bring them back to the conditions of full livability and usability.

The parks are closed after the violent storm that hit the city between July 24th and 25th, opening them now would put at risk all those who would start frequenting them again despite the high-risk conditions.

The campaign that the Department of Participation has promoted, trying to involve citizens and associations in cleaning Milan, is called “Together for the Green”.

The rain and hail have devastated everything

Those who will participate in the initiative will have to collect leaves, twigs and debris present in the parks and large green spaces, once the safety measures have been completed. Rain, wind, hail that fell in Milan, have had very serious repercussions throughout the territory. They have caused not only problems but also damage to structures and infrastructures, to the local public transport service, to all productive activities. Without considering the fact that they have also put the lives of the population at risk, both at home and outside the home, who have found themselves living in dangerous situations.

Public greenery will shine again as it once did

Firefighters, Civil Protection, Amsa, Atm, Nuir, MM and the Avr consortium have done everything possible in recent weeks to clean up public greenery, taking care of green maintenance, addressing what are the most urgent needs of all. The Administration has taken action in the last few hours to reduce the inconvenience for citizens, asking for help from them.

Anyone who wants can say yes to the mayor’s request, from August 28th until September 17th, every day from Monday to Sunday, to clean up parks, streets, roads, squares. Anyone interested just needs to fill out the form on the page of the municipality of Milan.

The volunteers will have to dedicate themselves to various activities, here are which ones

The volunteers called to work will be engaged in collecting leaves, branches and finally debris. Then they will have to dedicate themselves to cleaning and restoring the areas. The different teams will be coordinated by the Volunteer Ecological Guards (Gev), also with the aim of forming a sort of civic conscience in citizens of all ages.

The Municipality of Milan would like to thank all those who have written and made themselves available. Many people have said they are available to do anything for their Milan, also enjoying the possibility of doing something all together, having fun and spending time differently.

The Ciessevi Milano Association will take care of the recruitment phase by phase. It will also take care of the selection of volunteers, all based on the characteristics established by the call and the availability of the individual candidates. Each of them will have an association or company ready to give all the answers and clarifications needed.
