These days the opposition is exulting over how the signature collection on the minimum wage proposal is going while Fratelli d’Italia chooses to relaunch the tax wedge cut. A pedal that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has been pushing on for some time now.

Lino Ricchiuti, deputy head of the Department of Business and Productive Worlds of Fratelli d’Italia, is keen to underline that before talking about minimum wages, we need to intervene on many other levers, all more important.
The tax wedge in Italy is the fifth highest in a quick comparison with the 38 OECD countries. The best intervention at the moment would be to act on the wedge, lowering it.
Raising wages is a good idea, but it’s not enough
According to Ricchiuti, increasing wages is possible, but only up to a certain point, after which there is not much else that can be done. Companies are suffering a lot in this historical period. For this reason, one is led to think that with a possible increase in labor costs, they would be excluded from the market, determining at the same time important repercussions on employment levels .
Minimum wage, according to the Fdl group leader it is a scam, here’s why
Introducing a minimum wage by law of 9 euros per hour, all paid by the employer, could especially damage small artisanal businesses. Large companies have national contracts that go beyond this figure. The starvation contracts that have been signed recently, for example those of private security, are the clear and evident representation of the failure of the unions. The latter, according to Ricchiuti, are trying to clear their conscience by riding the demagogic wave of the opposition.

The deputy head of the Department of Enterprises and Productive Worlds of Fratelli d’Italia, would like to ask the PD a question: “Aren’t one million cessations of VAT numbers in the decade with you in government enough? Should we double? The problem of poor work exists and must be addressed, but without causing further cessations of activity and proliferation of undeclared work”.
The FdI group leader in the Chamber Tommaso Foti, denounces a real scam in the new bill that provides for the minimum wage, because it is signed for the minimum wage, while in the opposition decree it speaks of entry into force starting from November 15, 2024. Obviously there are some points to clarify and it must be done as soon as possible.
