Have you tried everything but the flies keep buzzing and flying around your kitchen? An expert explains how to get rid of them by making a trap that will cost you less than 4 euros.
You love summer, but you love the flies that come with it even less… As soon as the sunny days arrive, you go hunting for flies, fly swatter in hand! You don’t want to use repellents and you’ve tried various natural techniques, but nothing works – they always come back to your house for food. The good news is that it’s possible to easily make a trap, with natural products, very effective against flies both indoors and outdoors, for less than 4 euros according to a pest control expert, interviewed by the English newspaper The Express.
For this expert, who works for the specialist company Rentokil, getting rid of flies is very important because “they transmit diseases”. Here is the step-by-step guide to the trap you can make with just three basic foods that you may already have at home. You will need dishwashing liquid, honey and apple cider vinegar.
- Fill a container halfway with apple cider vinegar.
- Add a few drops of honey and a few drops of dishwashing liquid.
- Mix well.
- Wrap the container in plastic food wrap (it should be very tight).
- Using a fork, poke holes in the plastic. The holes should be large enough for the flies to pass through.
- Place the trap, for example, in the kitchen.
Flies will be attracted to the mixture and, once in the container, will be trapped in the sticky liquid and will not be able to get out. Don’t hesitate to make several traps to place in different rooms, and even on your terrace. Good to know: if you don’t have honey, don’t hesitate to replace it with wine, it is just as effective.
