Frequently Asked Questions

How to use citric acid to degrease and descale the dishwasher?

Citric acid is a cleaner that can compete with white vinegar and baking soda, especially when it comes to descaling. You can find it in liquid or powder form, in organic stores, in major DIY or gardening stores or even on online sales sites. And we advise you to use citric acid powder in this case. Why? Because the crystals will remain in the detergent drawer until the important part of the wash cycle, unlike the  liquid version, which risks running out sooner  . In short, citric acid powder gives more effective results.

Citric Acid Cleaning Steps:

Step 1: Add   1/2 cup of citric acid crystals   to the inside of your dishwasher’s detergent drawer and then close it.

Step 2: Configure the device with the usual program.

Step 3: We then follow this step with another wash cycle   , this time adding the dishwasher detergent to the dedicated tray.

Step 4: If the build-up of food residue, soap residue and minerals is significant or if you have not obtained the desired result, do not hesitate to repeat the operation.

How to properly clean the dishwasher with lemon?

Your dishwasher may be vulnerable to mineral deposits or hard water. In this case, it is possible to use   the descaling power of lemon   because it allows for remarkable results. To properly clean your appliance and get rid of hard water stains, a grandmother’s advice simply requires placing a glass of lemon juice on the top rack of the dishwasher and then running a normal wash cycle. Thanks to the citric acid contained in citrus fruits, no more hard water stains!

We cannot stress it enough, the best cleaning lies above all in the maintenance of the device. So remember to apply this lemon method once a month without neglecting the stains and other dirt that could appear on the outside of the dishwasher. A quick cleaning and regular maintenance and your device will be perfect!

How to clean the dishwasher filter?

The dishwasher filter is usually located at the base of the wash arm or at the bottom of the dishwasher tub. After identifying it, follow these steps:

Step 1: Unroll the bottom basket

Start   by unrolling the bottom drawer of the appliance   and if you see a rack at the bottom of the dishwasher, remove it as well.

Step 2: Identify the dishwasher filter and remove it

After locating the dishwasher filter,   simply unscrew it before gently pulling it out.   If you find another mesh filter, remove that as well.

Step 3: Wash manually

Now that you have isolated the filter, rinse it under running water from the kitchen tap. If, on the other hand, the filter is particularly dirty with food residue, prepare a small bowl with hot, soapy water   and then use an old toothbrush to gently scrub the outside and inside of the object   to remove all dirt. All that remains is to rinse it.

For added precision, also avoid using a hard-bristled brush to avoid damaging the device’s filters.

Step 4: Replace the dishwasher filter

Replace the dishwasher filter and screw it in place to secure. If you washed a mesh filter, replace it by  turning it a quarter turn in the opposite direction of removal.

Can you put bleach in the dishwasher?

It is not recommended to use bleach if you have a stainless steel dishwasher as it can damage it. Always check the instructions for your model; they should state whether or not you can clean it with it.
What to do if you find bugs in your dishwasher?

First, clean the dishwasher of bugs with a vacuum cleaner (check the entire appliance). Then use one of the cleaning methods listed above to wash your appliance. This should remove any eggs and/or bugs.
