Let’s talk about creating the ideal environment for geraniums, a flower that craves your attention and care. Ahead is the period when geraniums and pelargoniums wake up from winter sleep and need help growing and blooming.

Among all the methods of care, the use of “living water” occupies a special place. For years I searched for the perfect recipe and this one, found in an old magazine and tested for seven years, exceeded all expectations. Let’s take a closer look at how to create this miraculous liquid, which will usher in the second half of January.

What is “living water”?

This solution magically stimulates the growth and health of not only geraniums, but other plants as well. The secret lies in a unique combination of components that complement each other, enhancing the beneficial properties.

Plants need microelements, especially iodine, for protein and carbohydrate synthesis, as well as for photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Without this element, plant immunity is affected and the condition of the roots deteriorates.

It is especially important to add iodine to those geraniums that have been growing in the same soil for a long time. Many soils are initially poor in iodine, which is quickly removed with irrigation water, leaving plants deficient.

Peroxides containing active oxygen also play a key role in plant development. For example, hydrogen peroxide, the most accessible and well-known, actively enriches the soil with oxygen, which helps to improve root respiration and activate beneficial microflora.

How to make “living water”

First you need to prepare the melted water: simply melt the snow in a bucket and filter it. Use an old filter for this or just strain with a multi-layer gauze.

Take 1 liter of this water and add 1 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide and 0.5 ml of tincture of iodine with 5% alcohol. Mix everything well and use immediately.

Correct application

To start, place the potted plants in a wide bowl of warm water so that the bottom is about one-third covered with water. Pour the same warm water over the soil and leave it for 15 minutes to saturate it with moisture.

After the excess water has drained, return the pots to their permanent place and carefully water each plant with 50 ml of the prepared “living water”.

This procedure should be repeated once a month to maintain the health and beauty of your geraniums and pelargoniums.
