The reasons for the formation of topped rot in tomatoes can be different, such as improper watering, sudden changes in temperature, improper feeding, or lack of calcium. However, the main reason is, of course, the lack of calcium in tomato bushes, which can be due to waterlogged or dry soils, as well as hot or cold climates. If the shrubs don’t have enough calcium, the fruits begin to rot.

To combat this rot, you can use calcium nitrate. In the spring, when preparing the soil for planting vegetables in a greenhouse, calcium nitrate can be added to the soil.

To get rid of apical rot, you can prepare a solution of 10 grams of calcium nitrate per 1 liter of warm water, mix it well, and sprinkle it on the tomato leaves after 6 pm. Thus, the tomatoes will quickly absorb the necessary nutrients. This foliar feeding can be repeated after 10 days.

If tomatoes are already sick with apical rot, you should not feed them nitrogen or potassium fertilizers. Instead, you can prepare a solution of 40 g of calcium nitrate per 10 liters of water and apply it under the root.
