Flies are among the most annoying animals out there. Although in most cases they are insects that are not so dangerous to human health, except in specific situations, it is also true that they can be really unpleasant. You probably know that there are many chemicals and insecticides on the market that allow you to kill and/or keep flies away. But did you know that you can also resort to all-natural remedies, which do not harm human and animal health? These are exceptional remedies that are based on an ingredient widely used in cooking. Keep flies away with basil
If on the one hand the beautiful season brings with it many beautiful things, on the other hand it is also the time of year when there are more insects of different types. These, like flies, can be really annoying: without following some important advice, our summer evenings could inevitably be compromised by the presence of very annoying insects. To prevent all this from happening you can choose to use a fantastic plant: basil. It is a very aromatic plant, widely used in the kitchen and at the base of the Mediterranean diet. But its use is not limited only to the culinary: basil, in fact, is hated by various insects, such as flies. Its strong smell, especially good for us, is unbearable for many insects. Consequently, basil is very useful for repelling flies and various insects. Simply place a plant in front of the window and you’re good to go. If we have more windows, obviously, we can choose to place several floors strategically. Our advice is to start growing several basil plants, perhaps creating a small vegetable garden if you have the right space. You can also add other plants such as black pepper, which is very useful for the same purpose thanks to its very strong aroma.
Alternatives
However, you can look for alternatives to creating a small vegetable garden at home. So here is a solution that is undoubtedly more practical and faster. In fact, you could let some basil or mint leaves macerate with vinegar. Wait at least 6-7 days and then dilute the mixture with water: at this point use a spray bottle and use it in the rooms you want to defend from insect attacks. This is another good trick that is used a lot in country houses and has exceptional effects!
