When the sink is clogged you can resort to this very simple and quick solution that plumbers use.

handful in the sink

When the sink gets clogged it is always a big problem, as in addition to preventing us from using it correctly  we also have to deal with the bad smells  that spread throughout the kitchen (and beyond). A clogged sink is therefore a situation that needs to be solved as soon as possible, perhaps by using one of the  drain cleaning products  that can easily be found in specialist shops and supermarkets. However, before focusing on chemical products it is better to try to resort to  more natural solutions  , perhaps by taking advantage of the enormous potential of some foods that we all have at home.

The clogged sink can be removed with the plumber’s trick: it only takes a few minutes

Just to give an example, many people do not know that a clogged sink can also be unclogged  by using a good handful of salt  . This ingredient, in fact, is ideal for corroding all the deposits that are inside the drain and that prevent the water from flowing properly.

So, pour a few teaspoons of salt into the clogged drain, adding a little  dishwashing detergent  to help free the drain of deposits. All that’s left is to pour  a good cup of boiling water  down the drain to instantly clear the blocked sink.

This method is truly exceptional for those who have new pipes, while for those who have a sink with old pipes it is better to avoid adding salt  to avoid the risk of damaging them irreparably  . In addition to clogged sinks, salt is also useful for solving many other problems within the home.

For example, salt can help remove the bad smell from a wooden chopping board. Simply add a few tablespoons of salt to the chopping board, taking care to spread it over the entire surface,  then rub it with a soft, clean sponge  to remove the unpleasant smell.

To make this remedy even more effective, you can  rub a few slices of lemon on the cutting board  , perhaps squeezing a little lemon juice over it as well. The last step is to rinse with warm water: the odours will disappear as if by magic.

All the situations where salt comes in handy

Salt, as we have already mentioned, can also be used for other purposes. This method consists of  adding a few tablespoons of salt to a pan  and frying it for a few minutes.

Why this movement? Many people don’t know it, but with this technique  we will be able to eliminate all the  bad smells that can continue to permeate the pan even after washing it thoroughly. When we remove the pan from the heat we will clean it of salt and we will notice that its smell will be much more noticeable.

Finally, salt can also be used to  treat a sore throat  . Put a couple of tablespoons of salt (possibly sea salt, but regular salt is fine too) in a bowl and add a glass of water.

Mix everything until the salt is completely dissolved. Last tip:  adding salt to coffee is not a bad thing at all  . Seeing is believing: half a teaspoon is enough to make the drink much tastier.
