Why is the drain blocked?

A drain can become clogged for countless reasons. The most common cause is  solid or liquid waste  such as  food scraps  ,  hair and hair  , but also oil or grease residues. Preventing the problem, as we know, is always better than having to solve it.

That’s why today we’re not only going to reveal a trick to  unclog the drain  without having to spend money on specific chemical products and without having to call the plumber at home, but also to prevent the pipes in your bathroom and kitchen sink from getting clogged.

Grandma’s foolproof trick

If you too are tired of spending money on useless and expensive chemicals and various detergents bought at the supermarket, you can try this simple and super effective method to solve the annoying and “smelly” problem of a  clogged drain  . It is a DIY mixture that our grandmothers already knew. There is no need to buy any product at the haberdashery or call the plumber. All you need to do is arm yourself with patience and create this incredibly powerful mixture that unblocks any type of blockage.

In a nice big bowl or basin you should put:  100 ml of dishwashing detergent  (even better if it is vinegar-based),  1 tablespoon of salt  (a large one would be preferable) and  100 ml of vinegar  . Then mix the mixture well and if it is too thick add 100 ml of water. The mixture of these 3 elements (vinegar, salt and dishwashing detergent) is  100% effective in unclogging any type of blockage  in the sinks in your home.

Dishwashing detergent has the ability to dissolve grease build-up, while salt has abrasive properties, removes accumulated impurities and is a natural antiseptic, capable of eliminating any type of bacteria in the pipes. Vinegar, on the other hand, has antifungal properties.

How to use the mixture to unclog a blocked sink

The  homemade mixture  of dishwashing liquid, salt and vinegar should be poured directly into the pipes at night  ,  before going to bed. However, we recommend pouring a teaspoon of baking soda down the drain first. The next step is to plug the sink with the stopper and fill it with boiling water and leave it there overnight.

What to do with a blocked drain

The next morning you will notice that the mixture, with its cleaning power, has magically unblocked the drain clogged with food remains, hair and dandruff. Try it to believe it!
