Recycling plastic bottles, jerrycans, bottles and everything made with this material is fun and also particularly useful for the environment. In fact, since plastic is highly polluting, reusing it instead of disposing of it is the ideal solution to extend its life and reduce the use of other plastic objects that would pollute the environment even more.
As already mentioned, recycling bottles, flasks, jerrycans and everything related to plastic objects is a green activity because it extends the life cycle of objects, reduces pollution and at the same time is also relaxing. There are many ideas for making useful things to use at home or in the garden: you can make nice flower holders, or beautiful plant holders, or even pen holders, pots and much more.
One of the most original and fun ideas you can make with plastic bottles, those that contain oil or shampoo or detergents, is to make convenient and creative containers for recycling to use at home. Basically, with this idea you can put the collection point for plastic in a kitchen compartment, and keep it handy to accommodate what you have to throw away during the day. Here’s how to do it!
A plastic bottle to make a container for separate waste collection
By now we are all used to separate waste collection and therefore it is essential to have the various containers at hand to accommodate glass, paper and cardboard, aluminum, organic and plastic. The latter is probably the one that is produced the most during the day, including plates, glasses, bags, caps, bottles of water and much more.
It is therefore necessary to have large containers at hand, and sometimes even more than one, to accommodate everything. How to do it? Instead of buying another container and spending more money, here is a creative recycling solution that will allow you to get a very convenient plastic container to put in the kitchen. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Two plastic bottles;
- 1 dark marker;
- 1 ruler;
- 1 cutter.
Once you’ve procured the material, here’s what you need to do:
- Use the marker and ruler to draw lines on the inside edges of the bottle
- Pass the cutter blade over the drawn edges and peel off the inner square
- Do the same with the other plastic bottle
At this point, measure the height and length of the two bottles and get wooden planks of both sizes. You will need the wooden planks to build a support inside which you can house the plastic bottles and take them out only when you have to throw away objects of the same material. How to make the support with planks
Now you have to make the support with wooden planks. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Wooden planks of two sizes;
- Screws and plates;
- A drill;
- A hacksaw.
Here is the procedure for making a bottle holder to be placed in a compartment under the kitchen:
- Place the planks next to the bottles, in front, back and in the middle;
- Check that the bottles stay inside without falling off;
- Fix the ends of the planks with screws and plates, acting with the drill;
- Cut the longer ends with a hacksaw;
- Attach the container to the wall under a kitchen compartment.
At this point you can put the two bottles with the top opening inside and fill them with plastic objects when needed. Removing them will be very easy because they have a handle and you will not make any effort to throw away the plastic objects, keeping the house in perfect order.
