Creative recycling also enters the scene for fabrics, with old tulle that can become something extraordinary.

With the old tulle available, what are the things that can be done? In theory, a lot thanks to creative recycling. In recent times it has become important to recycle and give new life to fabrics, even if they are ruined or dated. Tulle is an elegant and refined, timeless material, which is why it is always ready to be used to put into practice many different ideas. Let’s find out together how to do it with the help of professional tailors.
Characteristics and birth of the fabric
When we talk about tulle, we refer to an elegant and refined fabric, soft to the touch and of great value. Its production began in 1806 in England, with the name taken from the French city of reference. A material that over time has found space in different areas, such as clothing with a particular inclination towards wedding dresses and wedding favors.

This means that old tulle could be in every house, in drawers or stored somewhere. It should not be thrown away but recycled in an alternative way to give it a second life.
Recycling old tulle: seamstresses’ ideas
You can get a lot of things out of an old tulle that you have. If there are many pieces, the first thing to do is to retrieve them by placing them on the table. Take needle and thread – or the sewing machine – sewing all sides together until you make a nice bag. Inside you can put deodorant, soaps up to flakes of soap scented with citrus fruits, honey or lavender. What are they for? They delicately scent cabinets and drawers, or turn into a small gadget to hold a gift package.
With this material it is also possible to obtain a candle holder, in white or colored. Also in this case, the pieces are put together by taking a transparent glass jar (even the classic jar of washed jam). Immediately afterwards, take some pebbles from the park to sanitize and a small white candle and a satin ribbon of the same color as the colors found in the house.
Making it is very easy, in fact just take the jar to fill with pebbles and then insert the candle. Overlap the tulle to be wrapped on the outside of the container, fixing it directly with the ribbon.

If there is no lack of manual skills and even some tailor’s bases, then the fabric can be used to create beautiful clothes for dolls. In this case it is good to take a pattern that you can find on the web – reduce it to scale and then create the dress with the material you have available. Sew everything and put the doll on the dress. There is nothing more original than this.
