Rub candle wax on the stuck zipper

The zipper of your blouse or pants got stuck and you don’t know how to do it? A quick and easy way to open it and not break it is candle wax. Here’s how you need to apply it:

  • Take a piece of candle and pass it inside the zipper;
  • Rub the wax on the outside of the zipper as well;
  • Massage the wax with your fingers to make it adhere to the teeth;
  • At this point try to open it.

If you have done the procedure correctly, the zipper should open immediately and easily. The wax softens the teeth of the zipper and facilitates sliding even when there is a blockage. Take care to let it go down without haste so as not to break it.

The pencil to unlock the zipper

The pencil is also one of the most effective methods of unlocking the zipper when it jams. Sometimes this can happen due to rust or dirt, or simply a clumsy movement. In these cases, a quick solution can be the pencil, here’s how to use it:

  • Rub the tip of the pencil on the zipper;
  • Repeat the operation;
  • Try opening the zip.

The hinge will work perfectly thanks to the lubricating action of graphite. Its application allows you to solve the problem immediately and in a few seconds the zip will go up and down quickly.

Lubricate the hinge with petroleum jelly

A great way to jump-start the hinge and avoid breaking it is to lubricate it with something soft. You can do this by using petroleum jelly, which is perfect for making it work and unblocking it thanks to its emollient and slippery action. To do this, you can use a cotton swab and do the following:

  • Cover the zipper using the cotton ball soaked in petroleum jelly;
  • Take care to pass the swab along all sides of the zipper;
  • Lubricate each tooth well.

To best perform this operation, put a minimum amount of product on the ball at the beginning. If the zipper does not want to open and still resists, then the amount of petroleum jelly increases, but it should never be excessive.

After applying the petroleum jelly, try to open the zipper, doing this operation with some slowness to avoid breaking it. If it opens, go back and forth a little with the tab, so that the zipper slides smoothly.

If necessary, go over the ball soaked in petroleum jelly, so as to improve the flow. If there is a blockage on the tongue, pass the petroleum jelly and it should unlock immediately. At the end of the procedure, remove the residues of petroleum jelly with a dry cloth and be careful not to dirty the garment which could be damaged. This method is also suitable for plastic hinges.

As you can see, unlocking the zipper with the above methods is easy, and you can slide it well in a matter of seconds. Keep these 3 tips in mind so you don’t give up when you get the zipper lock and put them in place. It is important that you carry out the various steps carefully and without forcing the zipper, because as soon as you apply the indicated products it will slide practically without difficulty.
