Try cutting the rubber flip-flops and see what happens. It is unexpected what will come out: below we show you all the steps to achieve this result.

If you have old rubber flip-flops, don’t throw them away. In fact, you can transform them and you can give them another use. Recycling is important and it’s really simple. Below we are going to show you how to turn old flip-flops into new shoes. In the next paragraphs you will find all the steps to follow.
Rubber flip-flops: cut them and see what comes out
First you will need to take rubber flip-flops and scissors. Withthe help of the latter, you will have to cut off the excess parts so that only the sole remains. Then you will have to eliminate the upper part that holds the foot in place when inserted into it.
Once you have only that part of the slipper, with the help of a sheet create a template to make the slipper become a closed shoe. Then make the front part by drawing a semicircle and a strip that will be the one that will keep the foot firmly in place. After making the patterns, take some old fabric or old jeans that you no longer use.

Place the pattern paper on the fabric of your choice and pin it together. Make the mark with chalk and cut out 1 centimeter from the model. Also cut out two pieces of each model per shoe because they will then be joined together. Being two slippers you will have to cut out the pieces four more times.
First then join the two vertical pieces by making a seam under the sewing machine or using needle and thread. Follow the mark with chalk and sew only one side. Then help yourself with the iron to make the other seam in the best possible way so that it is perfect. After ironing, then proceed with the other sewing.

Let’s move on to the front part and in the same way sew the flat part, iron and then proceed by sewing the other side as well. At this point it was time to assemble everything and let the new shoe take shape. From a simple flip-flop you will move on to very useful closed shoes.
How to assemble the new shoes
As we said, let’s now see how to assemble the cut and sewn pieces. First placeyour foot on the cut-out power strip and place the various pieces on your foot. Pin the two parts in place. After that you will have to fix the two parts and join them with a seam.

Once it is joined, cut off the excess at the bottom and proceed to close the work with a flat seam. Now you just have to attach the shoe created with the fabric to the rubber slipper. Place it in place and then pin it down. Thenwith the help of needle and thread, sew everything around the shoe. You can help yourself with an awl to get the needle through.
Once you have finished, you can also think of completing the interior by inserting a sole made of the same fabric. Just cut it out and glue it with hot glue. And lo and behold, you got shoes from a pair of flip-flops that you most likely no longer wore.
