A detail of watermelon makes us understand if it is very juicy and sweet, just rely on a few simple tricks: here are which.

In the summer, especially when temperatures begin to reach very high peaks, it is always good to increase the percentage of fruit and vegetables in your diet. Experts recommend eating certain fruits often, which in addition to satiating can provide important support on days characterized by intense heat. In the summer months it is therefore advisable to eat fruits such as apricots, peaches, strawberries and cherries, but also medlars, blueberries and plums, up to melon and watermelon. The latter two are probably the typical fruits of summer, so much so that they are very often seen on the tables of Italians.
A detail to understand if watermelon is perfect: you can’t go wrong
Watermelon is undoubtedly a perfect fruit for summer and high temperatures. The beneficial properties made available by watermelon are many and all of great importance.

In addition to ensuring an excellent moisturizing action, watermelon is an excellent reinforcement for bones and is also recommended to protect the cardiovascular system.
Furthermore, the great sugar content of watermelon should not be underestimated. This fruit provides our body with a series of vitamins, including vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. In addition, watermelon is also rich in fructose.
In short, watermelon is one of the most suitable fruits to fight sultriness, since it allows you to recover a large amount of mineral salts that are lost through sweating.
However, watermelon can also pose some health risks. When we go to the supermarket to buy a nice watermelon we must always look carefully at the fruit to check that there is no problem.
The perfect watermelon, in fact, should be sweet, fruity and juicy, but obviously before opening it it is not easy to understand if it actually has these characteristics.
Yet there are some tricks that can help us understand which watermelon is worth buying and which one we should absolutely discard.
The first trick is to carefully observe the watermelon and possibly identify the presence of a bright spot. If this bright spot is not present, it is best to leave the watermelon where it is, as it has most likely not ripened enough and will not taste good.
If, on the other hand, we notice the presence of a light and yellow spot, we can proceed with the purchase. The second trick is to look for a stem and check that it has a nice brown color.
Stem color and the ‘knock’: techniques to understand if watermelon is good
This detail, in fact, certifies that the fruit was taken immediately after ripening. If, on the other hand, the stem is still green, it means that the watermelon was picked too early.

The third trick consists of giving the fruit a few blows with the knuckles, as if we were ‘knocking’. If the sound is ’empty’, it means that the watermelon is full of water and consequently particularly tasty.
Finally, here is the fourth trick. All we have to do is apply light pressure to the watermelon, as if we were trying to squeeze it with our fingers. The fruit should not seem too soft or too hard.
When we find watermelon with these four characteristics we can buy it without problems. When we are at home we will be able to cut it and check how sweet and juicy it actually is.
