A terry Bermuda shorts

Making terry Bermuda shorts from a towel you don’t need is the perfect solution to not keep aside a fabric that is soft and also absorbent. But how to make Bermuda shorts? Here are all the instructions to get a practical terry Bermuda shorts:

  • Fold the towel into quarters from the short side;
  • With scissors cut the final edge;
  • Mark the measurements 10 cm and 36 cm starting from the end;
  • With a ruler, measure from the end of 10 cm to 36;
  • Mark with chalk and cut out on top of it ending with the curvature;
  • Now measure 50 cm from the other end and cut out the excess part.

At this point, cut with the scissors starting from the 4 cm measurement and make a cut on the 10 cm part in order to free the sides. Now machine the edges, performing the zigzag stitch. Once you have machined the edges, you will feel like you have made a terry Bermuda shorts. Smooth it on the table and cut the sides with scissors, add the pieces you had cut next to them and pass them along the long side.

Join the sides to the shorts and machine them on both sides. Then measure the top side as if it were curled, to determine the length of the elastic. Machine the elastic and mark with chalk the four points where it must be hooked so as not to slide at the waist.

Start by going under the sewing machine foot starting at one of the four stitches and continue all the way up the waistline until you complete the round. Once this phase is finished, lower the terry edge with the elastic inwards and machine the entire round. Your terry shorts are ready, if you want you can embellish it by adding a bow in the center of the waistline!

Old and yellowed towels

Terry blouse with a towel

In addition to terry Bermuda shorts, you can also make the blouse with a towel that you don’t need instead of throwing it away. Here’s how you need to do it:

  • Fold the towel in four;
  • Measure 55 cm and cut off the excess sponge;
  • Measure from the end 2 cm by 10 and size;
  • From the point you cut, measure 11 and cut by drawing an oblique mark;
  • Collar measures 26 cm and 27 for the under shoulder and size;
  • On the round side that corresponds to the armpit, go down to the bottom and cut;
  • Open the pieces and join them, then machine them.

In the meantime, cut out a sponge following the contours of a drawing. Apply the terry cloth puppet to the front of the blouse you got with the towel. Your terry cloth outfit is ready to be worn and is great to wear for the beach and for leisure.

The sponge is great for absorbing sweat, it is also durable and lasts a very long time. Wearing a set made of this material allows you to stay cool and better withstand the summer heat. Make it with a towel and you’ll see how much you’ll love it!
