Oregano and olive oil: how to combine them
As we said today, you will only need two ingredients: oregano and olive oil. You should know that these two products combined give great benefit. In fact, they were also used in Greek and Roman times and had mainly medical use. Today, oregano oil is used for physical well-being.
To make oregano oil you simply need to have these two products at home. You can use both fresh and dried oregano. If you use the fresh one you will need a sprig otherwise half a tablespoon of the dried one is enough. Then you need a glass of extra virgin olive oil (100 ml).

If the leaves are fresh, you will need to use a mortar to pound them. After you have a clear and juicy paste, transfer it into a glass jar with a lid. Add the oil and close. Store in a cool, dark place for about 15 days. After this time, take the oil back.
Now, you’ll need to filter it before you can use it. Place it in a well-sterilized container and then store it in a cool, dry place. Don’t leave it too much time and if necessary do it again since it takes very little time. Below we see what to use it for.
The beneficial properties of oregano oil
Oregano oil has numerous properties. These include: antioxidant, antifungal, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial. But also antiseptic and carminative. These two greasy products give excellent results for skin disorders, for menstrual pain. Or even for fungal infections or other.
How to use this natural product
There are several ways to be able to use oregano oil and especially for different remedies. In fact, depending on the purpose for which it is used, it is used differently. Let’s first see the different purposes for which it can be used:
- Treating asthma or bronchitis: clears the airways;
- Digestion: it can be ingested and promotes digestion by stimulating the secretion of gastric juices;
- Beauty oil: purifies the skin; Counteracts blemishes: also excellent against cellulite to be massaged;
- Pain: oregano oil soothes muscle pain;
- Infections: thanks to its antifungal and antibiotic properties, it is very effective. Even against urinary ones.

It can be used differently. Here are the ways to use it:
- Suffumigi: that is, take a pot of boiling water and put a few drops of oil inside. Great for clearing the airways;
- Aromatherapy: helps purify the home. It can be put for example in the humidifier of the radiator or creating a room aroma;
- Ointment: in this case, just mix a few drops of oregano oil with another oil and massage it into the skin. Excellent in this case for pain, cellulite and facial skin;
- Food use: as we said before, it can be ingested. It helps in digestion but be careful not to overdo it. A few drops are enough to dissolve in a teaspoon of sugar after meals.
