All you need are corks and a ball of wool to make a very nice and useful object: here’s how to do it.

Cork stoppers

The last period has been characterized by heavy increases for Italian families, who have found themselves having to face a whole series of price increases regarding energy costs, food prices and much more. That’s why more and more households have decided to give it a cut, avoiding unnecessary expenses, changing their habits at home and above all relying entirely on recycling. In fact, there are many objects that we tend to throw in the trash once used when they could still be very useful. These include corks, which we take away when we open a bottle of wine and which we often throw in the trash.

Cork stoppers, how to recycle them in the best way: all the steps

Nothing could be more wrong, since with a few corks and a ball of yarn you can go and create something that will surprise everyone. The first thing to do is to apply a little glue on the ‘head’ of the cork, where we are going to glue the slightly rolled wool thread.

Still with the help of the glue, we will continue to roll the wool thread around the cork, until it is completely covered. In total, the wool thread will have to be wrapped twice around the cork.

Once this simple job is complete, the next step is to take a double-sided tape and take the measurements of the small part we need by wrapping it around the thread that we in turn used to wrap the cap.

Once this is done, we are going to glue the rest of the thread on the portion of double-sided tape that we have just obtained, attaching it like a snake.

We finish everything with scissors and attach this new creation to the old one, precisely on the top of the cork wrapped with thread.

Take a little more thread, cut it in half and tie one of these around the other, doing this twenty times. We tie a knot and make a central cut with scissors, so as to have a star creation. We make two pieces of the latter creation.

Continuing, let’s create a sort of handle with the wire that we are going to glue on the upper side of the cork. Also on the top of the cork we also glue the two creations we made previously, finishing everything with scissors.

All that remains is to add one of the creations in the shape of a coiled snake also on the lower part of the object we are going to make.

The last step is to add a pair of fake eyes in the center of the creation, so as to have a very nice octopus that we can use as a keychain.

This method of recycling corks proves that you should never throw away what can be recycled. All it takes is a little imagination and a few minutes of patience to create really pleasant and advantageous objects, without having to spend money unnecessarily.
