With aluminum foil in your TV, you can create a fully functional antenna. By following these simple steps, you can produce it yourself. Here’s how to do it.

Aluminum ball in the TV

The television is an electronic instrument used for the reception and display of audiovisual signals. These audiovisual signals are then projected onto the screen. It is a device through which entertainment and information are offered to citizens. Movies, news, TV shows, and so much more. Compared to many years ago, the television has undergone many transformations, both in form and audiovisual quality. Progress has been remarkable and, to date, we have highly technological and high-performance tools.

A few years ago, the aesthetics of the TV were very different from today: large and massive screens with limited video quality. We now have LCD, OLED, QLED flat screens with very high resolution in 4K or 8K. Despite the abysmal leap in quality, there are problems that can arise regardless of the model of our television and regardless of how much we have spent to have it. In fact, the most common problems derive not from the TV but from its antenna. Let’s find out together how an antenna works and how to solve all the problems by creating one yourself. All you need is aluminum foil and copper!

TV antenna: a technology that is by no means infallible

The TV antenna is a tool of fundamental importance. It is a contraption designed in order to receive television signals. These signals are transmitted via pulses that travel through the air, and therefore do not require cable connections. What the antennas do is capture all the radio waves carrying audiovisual signals that will be translated into sounds and images on the screen. There are many types of antennas in circulation, from digital to internal, from parabolic to dipole.

Parable

Modern technologies have made it possible to change transmission: it is no longer analogue transmission but digital transmission. With this transformation, many antennas began to receive digital terrestrial TV signals. The choice of antenna, however, depends mostly on your geographical location and the quality of the signal available in the area in question.

As for the satellite dish, which is the most widespread, we can say that, very often, there are significant reception problems. The signal, in particular weather conditions, can become weak or completely absent. To remedy this problem, we suggest a very simple, free and intuitive solution. The creation of an antenna using aluminum foil ensures that television signals are received strongly and consistently. Here’s how to do it.

All the steps to create your own aluminum foil antenna

You are on vacation and you do not have your latest generation television available, your favorite movie or television program is about to start and the TV does not receive any type of signal. How to do it? The solution is very simple and is at your fingertips. All you need is a TV cable and tin foil. The first step is to obtain all the copper wire inside it from the cable. It is a few centimeters of copper that we then have to shape with the help of pliers.

After giving the first copper wire a circular shape, we do the same with a shorter wire, creating a smaller circle. It will be necessary to connect the two circles through smaller copper wires, until our structure resembles a real parabola. Remember to create the “tail” of the dish with a copper wire. When the operation is finished, we can use a sheet of aluminum foil: the latter will be used to cover our structure. We just have to connect the tail of our dish to the cable connected to the TV: the signal will be very strong and all the channels will be clearly visible and at our disposal.
