Because of this unbearable heat, many people have opted for the fan. The relief is immediate, the refreshment constant, but what are the risks of sleeping through the night with the fan on? Let’s unravel this mystery together.
The heat of the last few days has really affected everyone. In some cases, temperatures exceeded 40°C, thus making the days unlivable and tiring for everyone. When it’s so hot, there doesn’t seem to be anything that can give people some peace. There are those who opt for the sea and the swimming pool and those who, on the other hand, have to stay in the city to go to work. Air conditioning can be a great help in these cases, but not everyone has the money to be able to afford it. It is precisely at this point that the dear fan friend enters the scene, but he does not always manage to give the immediate coolness we all need. If we are sweaty, exposing ourselves to the direct jet of air is not the best. But what can happen if we sleep with the fan on all night? Let’s find out together.
What is the difference between air conditioning and fan?
Two of the most used appliances during the summer season are the air conditioner and the fan. In the first case, we are talking about a system that can be installed permanently or through a portable device. In this case, the air is subjected to a manufacturing process that allows cooling.

Usually air conditioners have a vent that allows you to eliminate the heat in access outside the home, thus allowing cooling within a few minutes. The fan, on the other hand, is a tool that is based on the presence of the movement of the blades. These, moving at various speeds, can move the air without letting it cool down as in the first case. Often, in fact, the air perceived with the fan is very hot, but it can still bring great relief especially on hot days.
Fans are certainly much cheaper than air conditioners. There are different types on the market, from wall-mounted to portable platform. However, keeping them on all day may not be good for your health or even your household bill. In any case, for many, it is the only solution to counteract the oppressive heat
Is air conditioner air better than the classic fan?
Having described the substantial difference between the air conditioner and the wavy air of the fan, one wonders which of the two methods is safer for health. The air conditioner can reach polar temperatures, which is why it is more suitable where immediate cooling is desired. It is not recommended in the case of hot people or small children, who could suffer the consequences of such an intense action firsthand.

The same thing applies to the fan. In this case, the air temperatures are not too intense, but you must still be careful not to expose yourself under the direct jet of air. We can therefore say that neither device is entirely safe or full of risks. It will only be necessary to follow simple rules, such as pointing the air jet towards the wall and not at people. In the case of an air conditioner, you can also think of adjusting the temperature according to your needs and combining the function of a dehumidifier.
Can keeping the fan on all night be dangerous?
With the heat of the last few days, sleeping has become impossible. For this reason, some people have decided to leave the fan on all night in order to have relief and be able to fall asleep. The experts have therefore decided to take matters into their own hands, in order to provide details about this now widespread behavior.
According to doctors, keeping the ventilator on for the whole night could have negative implications especially for all those people who suffer from asthma or have various allergies. The skin and throat can dry out, which is why migraines, eye irritation, and even nasal congestion may occur. Not to mention the muscle contractures, cramps and spasms that could result from prolonged exposure to the ventilator.
It is therefore advisable not to use this device all night, but to take precautions to promote sleep. These include operating the fan just before bedtime and turning on the timer so that it turns off after a few hours. The cleaning of the propellers should not be neglected, as these provide for a large deposit of dust and bacteria.
