To sew a roller blind, just follow these simple directions: you don’t need to spend money to buy a new one.

To enrich the rooms of one’s home, curtains are also often used, which always manage to give brightness and color to the interiors. Clearly there are different types of curtains to choose from depending on the room. Just think, for example, of Venetian blinds, but also panel blinds, up to Roman blinds and glass blinds. Another very popular and sought-after type on the market is undoubtedly that of roller blinds, in particular for their ability to shield the light that enters through the windows. In roller blinds, the fabric wraps around the metal roller, which also allows the blind not to crease.
Sewing a roller blind is simple: here’s how to do it
Roller blinds are often preferred because they take up much less space and allow you to add plant pots, decorations and other ornaments on the windowsills.

However, many would prefer that roller blinds do not come into contact with the window, since in the winter months condensation could wet them and make them moldy.
That is why it is possible to make roller blinds by hanging them outside the window, in order to overcome this problem. The fabric in this case should be wider than the window opening and cover the slopes, so you should add about 5-10 centimeters on either side of the opening, depending on how far the windowsill protrudes.
The most important detail is of course the lifting mechanism. You have to use two ropes, where tassels are attached at the bottom that always give a certain elegance.
As for the fabric, the choice depends on your taste, although it is advisable to avoid fabrics that are too elastic. The chosen fabric should wrap easily around the frame and protect well from light.
If you directly recover a curtain, the fabric will already appear hemmed. If, on the other hand, we have recovered a normal fabric, we will have to proceed with the folding on the wrong side and consequently the sewing. Next, when cutting, you need to add seam allowances to the width.
To attach the upper part of the canvas to the gutter, a cord must be made. You fold the edge on the wrong side by an inch and then fold it again, sewing along the edge of the curve, as you can see in the video.
The width must be calculated well, in order to allow a perfect adaptation of the tube and prevent the fabric from turning.
Homemade roller blinds: a quick and easy solution

Once this step has been completed, the ropes are inserted into the extreme holes of the gutter and a nice knot is made. The cable should be wound on one side of the pipe, also adding plugs to the sides of the gutter to prevent the wrap from flying off.
Of course, above the window, on both sides, we will have to screw fasteners to facilitate the roller blind mechanism. These are two arches connected by bolts that are easily found in special shops.
All that remains is to insert the tube where we have wrapped the tent and close it with the second arch, fixing it, even if not completely. This way the hose can spin smoothly. Let’s try to give it a try: if the roller blind comes down (and goes up) without problems, that’s it.
