In these summer months, many people spend long days at the beach or in the mountains. In the intense heat, they are ideal places to get away from inhabited centers to be able to cool off or get some sun to tan. And an accessory that should not be missing is the beach towel. Today we have a wide range available, they can even be customized. Each of us owns at least two, large and colorful: what very often differentiates them is the material with which they were made.

Some prefer the classic terry towel, soft and suitable for absorbing water well. Others, on the other hand, choose the microfiber one, thin and able to dry quickly. One thing, however, that unites everyone, is the softness they lose after using them for a couple of days. Some beach towels lose their softness and it is not always easy to make them soft again as when we bought them. Let’s find out how to do it with this natural ingredient, it will take you just a few minutes and they will be as good as new.

How to soften beach towels

Today beach towels are part of our summer look, on the market we find them in all colors and with truly bizarre patterns. You are really spoiled for choice: from microfiber to terry or cotton ones. In addition to being a fundamental part of a day at the beach, towels can also be used for a picnic outside the city. When you use it for the sea, there is nothing more beautiful than smelling that scent and softness when you lie on it to dry off. But isn’t this always achieved after washing? It often happens that when beach towels are not used on sunbeds but directly on the sand, they become very frizzy and it also becomes difficult to wash them.

Another problem is sand, especially with terry cloths. Being thick, they do not dry quickly, and it happens that the sand is hardly completely eliminated before washing, and this can also cause serious damage to our washing machine. A solution to avoid damaging our appliance is to let it dry first, in order to remove the sand well.

In this way, when we go to put it inside the washing machine, we will not risk clogging the pipes or the filter. But another problem with beach towels is how to make them lose that stiffness due to sand and salt. Instead of using fabric softeners that contain chemicals, today we are going to recommend an all-natural ingredient, which will make all your beach towels look like new again. Here’s how to prepare it.

This natural ingredient will make them new again

Softening our beach towels is often not a simple thing. Using products that can be chemical means causing damage to the environment but also to ourselves. Sometimes the fabric softeners we find on the market can be harmful to our skin, causing allergies and redness. So today we want to recommend a completely natural ingredient to make your beach towels look like new and soft again, chamomile.

Chamomile is great to use as an anti-inflammatory, calming and is also soothing. In addition to bringing benefits to our body, it can also be used as a natural fabric softener. The preparation is very simple to do and takes only a few minutes.

Just boil a liter of water. When the water has reached a boil, turn off the heat and add 2 to 4 sachets of chamomile. The quantity of sachets also depends on the amount of clothing you want to soak.

Once the brew is finished, let the contents cool inside the pot. After washing your beach towels or other garments, put everything in a basin adding more water. After about ten minutes, squeeze them carefully and put them to dry (not with direct heat sources). You will notice how your garments will be soft and fragrant, and you will be able to enjoy their softness, especially that of your beach towels.

With such a remedy you will no longer be afraid of finding yourself with stiffened sheets that give off bad odors even after washing. They will be perfectly clean and fragrant. All you have to do is try this inexpensive but very effective method.
