The bathroom is often a breeding ground for mold, a problem to be faced is the presence of mold in the silicone of the shower.

Let’s find out what strategies to use to get rid of it in a few steps.
Mold in the silicone of the shower: what are the causes
The bathroom is often a breeding ground for mold. The main reason for this is the condensation moisture that is generated on a daily basis.

This fact favors the settlement of mold on the shower curtain, shower mats, tile joints and silicone joints.
Mold develops very easily in silicone mortar because it is a flexible material that retains moisture. To tackle the problem at the root and prevent it from reappearing a few weeks later, it is essential to know that mold is a fungus, which grows especially in humid and dark environments.
The presence of mold in the bathroom is not only an aesthetic problem, but it can also affect our health. On many occasions, it is the main cause of allergies, respiratory problems, irritations, etc.
The products that are usually used for our hygiene (gels, oils, etc.) also act as food for mold, which is why the shower must be checked constantly.
How to remove mold from silicone
In some cases, it will be sufficient to remove mold from the silicone joints, but in others, it will be necessary to renew the joints to eliminate mold.
Removing mold from silicone joints requires more than just cleaning them, you also need a product that kills it. There are many fungicides on the market, such as bleach and ammonia, but it is also possible to use other natural remedies that are just as effective.
In these cases, vinegar, baking soda, lemon or hydrogen peroxide can become great allies.

- White vinegar
A product that is used on numerous occasions is vinegar, which also comes in handy when we have mold at home.
To use it, simply pour white vinegar into a spray container and then spray the silicone with traces of mold in the bathroom. Then, after leaving it on for about thirty minutes, you start rubbing the treated part.
An old toothbrush will work great, both for the size and strength of the bristles. At the end just rinse with fresh water.
- Baking soda
Among the solutions you can prefer to remove mold, there is baking soda which naturally performs a cleaning capacity and a light abrasive action. This product can help eliminate stubborn mold in the bathroom.
To use baking soda we will have to create a paste made of baking soda and water, to be spread on the part to be treated and then rubbed with a toothbrush. This paste will have to remain on for 30 minutes until it becomes dry, at the end you can proceed to remove and finally rinse with plenty of water.

- Lemon juice
Like white vinegar, lemon juice can also be used to eliminate mold in the silicone of the shower.
It can be used either by cutting the lemon in half that will be rubbed, or by squeezing the juice to be poured into a spray to be used along the traces of mold.
Once the lemon has been applied, it should be left on for about 30 minutes, then the part should be rinsed. In the end we will also have a fresh lemon smell in the bathroom. It should be remembered that neither lemon nor vinegar can be used on marble or natural stone.

- 10 volume hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a product capable of eliminating different types of dirt, even mold on the shower rails. In this way we will have them white again. To use this natural system, all you need are cotton balls soaked in hydrogen peroxide to be placed on the part to be cleaned and then leave it on for an hour.
Finally, remove the cotton wool and rub it with a sponge to remove mold residues. Finally, rinse to remove all traces.
