Lint that forms on sweaters is annoying and unfortunately represents the problem par excellence that any of us finds ourselves facing every winter.
In winter, for obvious reasons, we find ourselves dressing in heavy clothing that allows us to stay warm and protected from the cold outside , especially in the northern regions where the temperature often reaches zero degrees or even a little less.
While they are comfortable, sweaters are problematic because they tend to develop annoying fluff that is difficult to remove with just one wash.
Sweaters with lint aren’t always worth throwing away, here’s what’s best to do
The lint that forms on sweaters, whether old or new, whether good or poor quality, is simply textile fibers and fabric that are barely noticeable at first, but then become unsightly.
And then there are those who try everything to eliminate them and make the sweater look like new again. Method after method, finding the one that can give satisfaction is very difficult, but not impossible.
The economical method that eliminates lint in seconds
Instead of spending who knows how much money, you can try to leverage some home remedies that can solve the problem in a few moments, without spending a single cent. What you need is a piece of sandpaper, with a sponge for washing dishes.
The first thing to do is to take the sweater and spread it out well on a flat surface, therefore without creases so as not to ruin it. Then rub it with sandpaper slowly and delicately, avoiding applying too much pressure and therefore ruining the sweater permanently.
The movements of the sandpaper must go from top to bottom. Then take a sponge and rub it in the affected areas, on the abrasive side. In this way the fluff will go away all and the problem will be solved at least for one or two washes.
If you don’t have sandpaper, you can also use a simple toothbrush, avoiding rubbing too hard. The toothbrush will eliminate the balls that form on the fabric.
Finally, simple tights or a damp towel that can be rubbed directly on the sweater, taking the fluff away with it, are also suitable. Obviously the quickest solution is the brush that removes fluff, which unfortunately sometimes does not give great satisfaction.

Of course, you have to be careful about washing because a wrong wash can only make the situation worse. For this reason, it is better to wash by hand rather than in the washing machine, especially if there are only a few sweaters to clean.
If you insist on washing in the washing machine, it is advisable to start the indicated program, that is, the one for delicate garments, in cold water between 30 and 40 degrees.
One cause of felting, or rather the main cause, is too high water temperature. Added to this is the use of unsuitable products. For this reason, it is advisable to buy Marseille soap which is not polluting like all other detergents.
