How to clean a mattress
When cleaning your mattress, Heather Corrow, former product development manager for Allswell, a luxury mattress brand, advises taking the following steps:
What you need:
Materials
- a hair dryer
- a dry towel
- Powder detergent
Step 1: Make a stain remover paste
In a bowl, mix the washing powder and a small amount of water. The goal is to obtain a cleaning paste and for this we opted for 3 tablespoons of washing powder and 1 tablespoon of water. We minimize the amount of water to avoid mold.
Step 2: Apply the paste on the stain.
Gently apply the paste to the stained area and leave it on for 15 minutes or even half an hour before wiping it off with a slightly damp cloth.
Step 3: Sponge and vacuum
Using a dry towel, pat the cleaned area gently, avoiding rubbing, then wait a few minutes for it to dry. If there is any leftover cleaning product, you can remove it with a vacuum cleaner.

Step 4: Dry the cleaned area
Use a hair dryer or leave the windows open during good weather to properly ventilate and dry the mattress and prevent mold from forming.
