A clogged toilet is always a nightmare, but you can rely on this simple, effective and above all economical solution.
Among the most annoying problems that can occur in the home, that of a clogged toilet is a real nightmare. Although not very frequent, when this malfunction occurs, the first thing that comes to mind is to call a plumber, since the toilet is unusable and obviously cannot be used for long. But why does the toilet get clogged?
Probably something has been thrown down the toilet that the toilet cannot include, such as biological residues, sticks, wet wipes and so on. But it is not only this that can cause the toilet to clog: it is not uncommon, in fact, for the problem to arise due to the low pressure of the water, which is thus unable to remove all the waste. Finally, the too narrow dimensions of the siphon can also cause the curved parts and therefore the toilet to become clogged.
Clogged toilet: a simple trick to solve the problem
How to solve it? As mentioned, the first hypothesis is to contact an expert in the field, but it is certainly an expensive solution. A good alternative is to make a DIY tool to restore the functionality of the toilet.
First of all, you need to get a plastic tube and a plastic bottle (like Coca-Cola or Pepsi). You take the bottle and cut it in half (with an electric grinder or even with a very effective knife). At this point you remove the cap from the bottle and try to get the plastic bottle into the tube: if you can’t do it due to the too large size of the bottle, you can try red-hot the end of the tube with a lighter, in order to widen the access and allow the plastic bottle to enter.
Once you have managed to get the neck of the plastic bottle into the end of the tube, everything is welded with an effective adhesive tape that wraps around the affected point. It is better to abound with adhesive tape, in order to make the joint very solid.
With this method you will unclog the toilet in a few seconds
At this point you can use this homemade ‘shovel’ to try to uncork the toilet. Holding the part with the plastic tube in your hand, you insert the part with the bottle cut in half into the toilet and go to the bottom, until you create a pressure that will move the traffic jam. After a few attempts we will see the water begin to fall, until the level returns to normal.
To understand if everything is fine again, just do the litmus test, i.e. pull the drain: if the water does not fill the toilet again, the problem is solved. But the work did not end there. In fact, it is advisable to thoroughly clean the entire toilet, in particular the encrustations that have formed on the bottom: it is better to use a cleaning brush suitable for this purpose.
