Eggs and bananas are commonly used in our kitchen as food, but they can also be useful in our garden.
This may seem strange, because we are talking about very common food products after all. Still, eggs and bananas can do wonders for your plants and using them in the garden doesn’t require you to be a gardening professional.
Many plants require a lot of care and nutrients, not to mention watering and sunlight. That’s why tips to improve the health of your plants can be worth their weight in gold. Here’s a tip that’s very easy to implement. All you need are a few bananas and an egg.
Eggs are a great natural alternative to soil fertilizer. When they decompose, they release nutrients into the soil that strengthen plant roots and prevent mold. So what about bananas? As we know, bananas are full of potassium, an essential nutrient for plants and humans. Potassium supports the development of reserve organs (tubers, roots, fruits), as well as the coloration of fruits and flowers, while making plants more resistant to diseases.
Here’s how to do it
Take the pot of your choice or choose a suitable spot in your flower bed. Put a layer of soil about five centimeters in there. Then place a raw egg with a banana in the center. Add another layer of soil and plant the plant of your choice. When the egg and banana finally decompose in the soil, they will feed the plant with nutrients that will literally make it bloom.
The trick works both in pots and flower beds. Better yet, you can use this tip with a clear conscience on bananas and eggs that have become too old and should have been thrown away. Now they actually have a use!
