Removing stains from the mattress: two ingredients are enough
Two effective remedies to remove stains from the mattress and make it look like new are hydrogen peroxide and dishwashing liquid. Mixed together they form a solution that acts on the mattress as a whitener and at the same time cleans and sanitizes it thoroughly. Here’s how to do it:
- Pour 1 cup hydrogen peroxide into a bottle
- Add half a cup of dish soap
- Screw on the spray dispenser
Shake the solution well and spray on the mattress where the stains are. Leave it on for 2 minutes and then scrub with a toothbrush. Take the toothbrush by the handle and pass it vigorously over the stain to be treated. A light foam will form that you can remove with the same toothbrush. Once this is done, wipe over a damp cloth and let it dry. The difference will be noticeable from the end of the procedure and you will be able to verify that the stain on the mattress is practically gone.
Wash the lining at high temperature
If the mattress is not very dirty, simply wash the cover at a high temperature to remove dirt and sanitize it. Proceed to remove the cover, rolling it up on itself to extract it and then vacuum it to suck up all the dust that has accumulated in the corners.
Vacuum the entire surface, insisting on each part to remove any dust residue that lurks between the seams. Also pass it on the sides, to remove any residue that may have stuck to the side.

At this point, prepare a mixture in a bowl with baking soda and a few drops of essential oil and then spread it with a sieve over the entire mattress. Then vacuum the mixture and once finished, turn the mattress over to repeat the same operation on the other side. Start again with the vacuum cleaner, to be passed over the entire surface, then put the mixture and vacuum again.
Cleaning the mattress with the steam mop
A great solution to get better results in cleaning your mattress is to use the steam mop. If you own this tool, cleaning will be even easier and more effective. In fact, it will allow you to sanitize the spring mattress even better and remove mites and germs.

Lemon to clean the latex mattress
To clean the latex mattress, an effective ingredient is lemon. Squeeze a few drops of lemon into a bowl with water and dip a microfiber cloth. Wring out the cloth and wipe it over the mattress, insisting on the seams and corners.

Turn the mattress over and repeat this operation. Wait a few hours until it is dry and to help dry, open the window, in order to ventilate the room. Remember not to use the steam mop on the latex because it could damage it.
