All healthy orchids experience yellowing of the lower leaves as the old leaves die. However, yellow leaves can also be a symptom of many problems. If your orchid has already withered, there is a remedy to restore the plant and it consists of using an ingredient that you would never have thought of.
In fact, hydrogen peroxide is used for orchids as a means of treating and preventing plant diseases . Watering with such a solution provides the leaves and roots with full oxygen saturation, which ordinary water is unable to achieve.
How to care for and grow an orchid with this ingredient!

Before we look at how to revive a withered orchid, here are the benefits that hydrogen peroxide has on plants and how to use it. Watering orchids with hydrogen peroxide is useful because:
- kills parasites and heals the plant,
- fertilize the substrate,
- accelerates the growth of flowers,
- acts as a fungicide,
- saturates the soil with oxygen,
- strengthens small roots.
For indoor plants, peroxide is used as a disease or pest control agent.
Moisten the seeds with hydrogen peroxide.
Hydrogen peroxide is already used in the first stage, in the stage of processing orchid seeds before planting. It saturates the seeds with oxygen, strengthens them and stimulates their growth. The use of the product has a beneficial effect on the flower.
To soak the seeds you will need:
- 3% hydrogen peroxide – 25 drops,
- water – 250 ml.
The seeds are immersed in the resulting solution, after 30 minutes they are taken out and washed with water.
Water the flowers with hydrogen peroxide.
Tap water is usually used, plants love and need natural irrigation, provided by rainwater or the same peroxide solution, which contains the whole set of trace elements necessary for proper development and growth.
Before use, the preparation must be diluted with water in order not to damage the sensitive leaves of the orchid. To do this, mix 2 tablespoons with 1 liter of water. Spray this solution throughout the year, but not more than once a week. Peroxide stimulates the growth of orchids. It is advisable to dew and water the flowers in a well-ventilated area.
If your orchid has withered, here’s how to revive it!

If your orchid is wilted, remove the yellowed leaves with sterilized scissors and remove any dry parts of the plant. Remove the plant from the pot and transfer it to a glass jar filled with water up to the neck (roots and leaves form outside of it).
Try not to get the collar wet, otherwise you risk rotting the whole plant (usually 3-4 cm of water will be enough). Now remove the plant from the jar and add 1 cm of hydrogen peroxide to the water , mix and transfer the plant piece again .
The liquid level should never exceed the collar. Now all we have to do is wait. It will usually take at least a month and a half before you see the first results. This remedy will work when you see that the parts of the roots that were previously yellow have turned green and new ones have also grown. At this point you can restore your orchid in a sterilized pot.
Fill about 2/3 of the pot with pieces of bark, transfer the plant and fill it up to the neck with bark. Then scald the bark until the water runs out and place it in another decorative vase or on an ad hoc base.
Hydrogen peroxide supplies the orchid with all the necessary trace elements. No additional fertilizers are needed when using. Oxygen, which is part of hydrogen peroxide, has a harmful effect on germs, spores and parasites that protect flowers. Oxygen also saturates the soil and causes rapid flower growth.
