Versatile, economical and ecological detergent: How to prepare it yourself.

As mentioned, this homemade laundry detergent is made      from sodium carbonate and seaweed soap.

The former isn’t synonymous with baking soda, but it’s a distant relative:      it’s sodium carbonate      , and it makes your wrists tremble when you say it. In fact, it is      simple NON-CARUSTIC soda     , the same bleach     that      has been used for laundry since the Middle Ages.

It has a strong degreasing, cleaning, whitening and disinfecting effect.      It comes in the form of a white, odorless, crystalline powder that dissolves in water and costs very little. A 1 kilo pack costs between 4 and 6 euros, but there are a lot of them.

Seaweed is  a yellow       stick      of coconut oil      with incredible cleaning properties, ideal for household cleaning.

To these two ingredients      you should add an essential oil of your choice to      get a unique aroma: we recommend lavender or lemon to spread a fresh and intoxicating aroma everywhere.

The quantities to prepare our versatile mix are:

  • 1/4 seaweed or Marseille soap;
  • 800 ml tap water or demineralized water
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda (sodium carbonate)
  • 20 drops tea tree oil or lavender essential oil (optional)

Put half a liter of water in a saucepan and bring to a boil     . Meanwhile, crush the seaweed soap with your hands. Turn off the heat, add to the pan and stir until dissolved.

Separately,      add the remaining 300 ml of water and sodium carbonate to the container     ; Mix well and then add the mixture to the yellow soap mixture. At this point, scent everything with the essence of your choice. Allow to cool completely, then transfer to a spray bottle and use on any surface.

If it thickens,      shake it vigorously to dissolve any deposits.

Everything will shine like new.
