Healthy Garden Secret Ingredient

Whether you have a garden or a small vegetable garden, the greatest satisfaction is undoubtedly seeing it exuberant. Very often we rely on ready-to-use fertilizers that are on the market in various formulations, but not everyone knows that it is possible to make a nitrogen-based fertilizer directly at home and with an ingredient that is available directly from nature. Let’s find out how to do it.

How to Have a Healthy Garden

The first step is to carefully plan the garden layout. In fact, you have to take into account the position of the sun, the size of the garden and the need for maintenance. How to Have a Healthy Garden

Basic care includes regular watering and sufficient sunlight. It is also important to keep the garden free of weeds and pests. It certainly helps to tend to the garden at least once a week to keep it in good shape, but just as important is well-nourished soil. This is made possible by a fundamental nutrient, nitrogen, which can be obtained for free in nature. So let’s see how to make a nitrogen-based fertilizer for the garden from a plant that is considered a weed and a weed: nettle.

A fertilizer to nourish the soil

As mentioned earlier, it is possible to make a nitrogen-based fertilizer by taking advantage of the benefits of nature. In this case, nettles, well-known and fast-growing weeds, are excellent allies. Nettles are plants that grow literally all over the world. They are rich in vitamins and minerals and are a source of antioxidants, protein, fiber and essential fatty acids. They are also rich in iron, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium, as well as B vitamins such as thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. They also contain vitamins A, C, E, and K and, thanks to their properties, are often used in infusions, supplements, and decoctions, as well as in garden fertilizers.

Nettles to fertilize the soil

Nettle-based fertilizer can be used to increase soil fertility and improve plant health. It contains a large amount of nutrients such as potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, nitrogen and more. It can be used to feed plants, improve soil structure, reduce pest infestation, and prevent plant diseases. It is also useful for improving the resistance of plants to cold and drought. In short, a true panacea for a healthy garden, let’s find out how to prepare it.

Fertilizer Preparation

To get a great fertilizer, you need to get nettles first. These are plants that are safe to harvest, so equip yourself with gloves and start cutting the amount needed for your garden. Get a bucket to put the nettles in. It is recommended to cut the leaves into small pieces to facilitate the fermentation process. When you’re done, add rainwater to the bucket without filling it to the brim, as fermentation will cause everything to bulk up. Next, cover the bucket, being careful not to close it so that the fermentation gases can escape freely.

Make a fertilizer with nettles.

Once this is done, find a sheltered place for your bucket, as you will have to wait 3 weeks for the fertilizer to be ready, and usually the fermentation process gives off unpleasant odors. During the three weeks, remember to stir everything regularly every 3 or 4 days. If you notice the absence of bubbles and foam, fermentation is over and your fertilizer is ready. The mixture is very strong, so it is essential to dilute it in a ratio of 1:10 for use, i.e. 10 cups of water to one cup of fertilizer. You can use it to water your garden every 3 weeks and in a short time you will be able to see the fruits of a well-nourished soil.
