When the sink is clogged, you can resort to this very simple and quick solution that plumbers use.

A handle in the sink

When the sink is clogged, it’s always a big problem, because in addition to preventing us from using it properly, we also have to deal with bad odors that spread throughout the kitchen (and beyond). Therefore, sink clogging is a situation that needs to be resolved as quickly as possible, perhaps by using certain drain cleaner products that can be easily found in specialty stores and supermarkets. However, before focusing on chemicals, it is better to try to resort to more natural solutions, perhaps exploiting the enormous potential of some foods that we all have at home.

The clogged sink can be cleaned with the plumber’s trick: it only takes a few minutes

Just to give an example, many people don’t know that a clogged sink can also be cleaned with a good handful of salt. This ingredient is ideal for corroding all the deposits inside the drain that prevent water from draining properly.

Next, pour a few teaspoons of salt down the clogged drain, adding a little dish detergent that will help clean the tank chute. All that’s left to do is pour a nice cup of boiling water down the drain to instantly clean the clogged sink.

This method is really exceptional for those who have new pipes, while for those who have a sink with old pipes, it is best to avoid adding salt to avoid risking irreparable damage to them. In addition to clogged sinks, salt is also useful for solving many other problems that need to be solved inside the house.

For example, with salt, it is possible to remove the bad smell from a wooden cutting board. Simply add a few tablespoons of salt to the cutting board, taking care to spread it over the entire surface, then scrub with a soft, clean sponge to remove the unpleasant smell.

To make this remedy even more effective, you can rub a few lemon slices on the cutting board, maybe also squeezing some juice of the same citrus fruit over it. The last step is to rinse with warm water: the smells will disappear as if by magic.

All situations in which salt is useful

Salt, as mentioned, can also be used for other purposes. This method involves adding a few tablespoons of salt to a pan and frying it for a few minutes.

Will

Why this gesture? Many people don’t know this, but with this technique we will be able to eliminate all the bad smells that can continue to impregnate the pan even after washing it thoroughly. When we remove the pan from the heat, we will clean it of the salt and we will notice that its smell will be much more appreciable.

Finally, salt can also be used to cure a sore throat. We put a few tablespoons of salt (possibly sea salt, but normal salt is also fine) in a container, adding a glass of water.

Mix everything until the salt is completely dissolved. One last tip: putting salt in coffee is not bad at all. Seeing is believing: Half a teaspoon is enough to make the drink much tastier.
