Cabbage contains a large number of microelements, vitamins and other useful substances.

For a good harvest, it is necessary to fertilize the soil in advance, or better yet, in autumn. For this purpose, humus, wood ashes and other organic fertilizers are added.

  • Nitrogen is fed when the green mass begins to grow intensively and the plant’s root system begins to form.
  • It is fed with phosphorus to accelerate metabolic processes and photosynthesis.
  • Potassium stimulates resistance to cold, increases the speed of movement of cell juices and osmotic pressure.

But in addition to industrial fertilizers, there are popular fertilizers that are equally effective.

Wood ash is added to the soil before planting cabbage seedlings. If the soil is too acidic, the ash will etch it well. Wood ash contains a lot of potassium, which is necessary for cabbage.

Instead of nitrogen fertilizers, cow humus, bird droppings, and a decoction of various herbs can also be used. This simple and affordable fertilizer can provide the cabbage with minerals and other necessary substances and speed up the formation of larger cabbage heads.

In addition, the cabbage is fed a bread yeast solution. Yeast fungi produce vitamins and nitrogen, which in turn increase root system growth and phytohormone biosynthesis. Take 10 grams of dry yeast, combine with 2 tablespoons of sugar, add 10 liters of warm water and place it in a warm place for 2 hours. Then dissolve 1 liter. Infusion in 5 liters of water. Before use, dilute the solution with water in a 1:10 ratio and water cabbage plants from the root.

To prevent cabbage heads from cracking, they can be treated with baking soda. Take 20 grams of soda and dissolve it in 10 liters of water. Apply the prepared solution to the cabbage outside the root area.

Ammonia contains nitrogen, which repels harmful insects and helps the plant gain weight. For 10 liters of water, add 3 tablespoons of ammonia.

Cabbage responds well to simple, healthy fertilizers. Place chopped fresh nettles, eggshells, banana peels and peeled potato scraps in a bowl. Fill it all with water and let it sit for a few days. With this infusion you can feed cabbage throughout the summer season.
