The geranium is a real treasure for a flower lover, because it delights us with its flowers all year round: from early spring to late autumn it decorates the garden, and in winter it finds shelter and warmth at home. Since ancient times, its healing effect was valued, as a natural remedy to heal wounds, so in some Slavic cultures it was even given the name “toast”.

This flower is a reliable protector against various insect pests, thanks to which it protects other plants in the garden and on the windowsill. But in addition, geranium helps to create an atmosphere of tranquility in the home, thanks to essential oils that calm the nervous system and help eliminate headaches.
In addition, the geranium surprises with its decorative effect: it delights with the abundance of flowers and the richness of the tones of its inflorescences. But to fully experience all the advantages of this plant, it is necessary to know the complexities of its care. It is especially important to transplant in autumn from the open field to a pot;
The care stages are as follows: water the geranium abundantly until the moisture is absorbed by the soil. Then carefully remove the plant along with the piece of soil. We move the plant to a pot of an appropriate size and with a high-quality drainage system. After repeated watering, we remove wilted flowers, excess buds, and dry foliage. Pruning is mandatory so that the plant enjoys an abundant and exuberant flowering next year.

As a rule, geraniums are cut in half. If it is much warmer in the house than outside, it is recommended to place the plant for several days in a cooler place, for example, on a balcony. After that, the geranium is placed in a bright place, because it loves sunlight, without which its leaves and flowers will become smaller.
If natural light is lacking, geraniums will need additional artificial lighting. It is important to rotate the pot periodically in different directions towards the light so that the plant develops evenly. In winter, watering is moderate: 1 or 2 times a week is enough.
