Kitchen Hacks Used by Chefs
The exchange on the web of the tricks used by chefs sees the use of various products in the kitchen, such as cornstarch or lemon, and so on, up to the ingredient of the day, i.e. flour.

The latter is the main element in the preparation of sourdough products such as bread or pizza, which many of us like to prepare at home. Together we’ll explore a number of alternative flour tips and suggestions that may surprise you and that you can do conveniently at home.
Shiny steel and stove look new
Did you know that flour is an excellent ally to make steel look like new again? It seems that the slightly abrasive but delicate action of the flour is able to quickly remove even the most stubborn dirt.

To use it, simply spread a little product on the areas to be cleaned and then wipe with a non-abrasive sponge soaked in vinegar or Marseille soap. Finally, rinse thoroughly to admire the fantastic result!
DIY glue
The next interesting and curious flour-related trick is to create a homemade glue! It is important to check beforehand if this glue will be strong enough for the project you are undertaking, as it is a makeshift alternative in case the right glue is not available.
To create glue, you’ll need:
- 1 liter and a half of water,
- 100 grams of type 00 flour.
Start by heating the water in a saucepan to a boil, then lower the heat and gradually add the sifted flour, stirring vigorously to prevent lumps from forming. When the mixture thickens completely, the homemade glue is ready. However, it is important to wait for it to cool down before using it.
Not only on the stove – flour also protects you from ants
Ants are a common problem in the home, especially in the summer, as they are difficult to spot and can be found anywhere. Fortunately, flour can help here as well.

It will be enough to distribute it in the affected areas, but it is necessary to identify the origin of the ants to avoid a new infestation. Thanks to the flour, the ants will be trapped and will no longer get close.
Plates and tableware
If you’re looking for a quick way to clean heavily soiled dishes, I can’t help but recommend using flour in combination with other natural cleaning products like Marseille soap, vinegar, or lemon juice.
During washing, you can add a tablespoon of flour to the sink and the result will be remarkable. However, it is important to rinse dishes thoroughly to avoid residue.

When preparing highly seasoned dishes, it is normal for pots, pans and pans to get very dirty. To remove oil stains, flour is a great solution because it absorbs liquids immediately without any problems.
To use it, simply spread it on the affected area, let it sit for a while and then rub it with a sponge. If the stain is not completely removed, repeat the process until it is completely gone. Finally, it is important to rinse the clean surface thoroughly.
