Does the tile in your house have black grout? It takes a few minutes and an essential ingredient to say goodbye to them.

Before and after tiles

Black tile joints are a classic phenomenon that thrives in any type of environment. Over time, the white line that divides the tiles gets dirty, creating an unsightly black halo that is immediately noticeable at first glance. In other cases, moisture can increase the blackening process that accompanies hard-to-eradicate mold spores. In these cases, the black joints of the tiles can be treated with a substance, so that in a single pass they are white and clean again.

What ingredients to use to remove grout from black tiles?

Where there are tiles, there are also black grouts, which appear gradually when dirt and moisture take over. Needless to say, they are ugly to look at and in any case denote poor hygiene, humidity giving way to mold in the different corners.

The ingredients of a powerful blend are as follows:

  • 100 grams of baking soda
  • 1 glass of bleach
  • 1 old toothbrush
Baking soda for joints

Baking soda is one of the most widely used natural ingredients, which has a thousand uses in the home and wellness field. It is also suitable for removing mold spores, also acting as an “exfoliant” to remove black dirt.

It combines with bleach to kill all the bacteria and germs that proliferate along the joints. In short, two ingredients that combine to clean, disinfect and eliminate mold in a single step.

Procedure and advice

Pour the baking soda with the lye into a bowl, then mix until you have a dense, smooth paste. Next, the paste should be applied to the black joints, leaving it on for up to 10/15 minutes for it to take effect.

Take an old toothbrush and brush all joints vigorously, leaving it on for another 15 minutes. Finally, rinse the joints thoroughly with a damp cloth or directly with the shower head.

Black leaks

Pay special attention to bleach, a toxic ingredient that isn’t always safe to handle. It is important to wear gloves when carrying out this type of work, leaving the windows open for ventilation.

Another tip is to completely dry the tiles after rinsing them to remove the paste treatment mentioned above. This helps to combat moisture and ensures that black joints do not reappear after a short time.

Clean the tiles

This substance can still be used even in light-coloured concrete joints. To see the final result, i.e. clean and white joints, you just have to wait until the next day, when the dough will have given it its final touch.

How often do joints blacken? Unfortunately, every month, the phenomenon knocks on the door. In any case, the substance is also excellent for counteracting its formation and can also be used as a preventive measure.
