Cockroaches are the order of the day and it is a common insect that can enter the house and never disappear again. According to experts, they are so attracted to certain smells and leftovers that they find the corner to settle down and start a family. If chemical repellents are not recommended, not even traps or anything that could harm them. For this reason, it’s good to use natural ingredients that make them run. Not only that, this plant is hated by cockroaches.
Why do cockroaches enter the house?
Cockroaches are very fast insects, they manage to hide in places impossible to reach and in a short time they lay their eggs. Their main food is droppings and they can carry pathogenic germs that are very harmful to humans. Not only that, they love simple food, i.e. anything they can find on the table or in the pantries. Many wonder where cockroaches can come from, although it is not always easy to give an answer. As a rule, they use the entrances that lead to attics or basements. They can range from water pipes, sockets to small cracks in the walls.
They love bathrooms because they are damp, but they are also comfortable in the attic, where they can live undisturbed. For nesting, they prefer a dirty, dark, and damp place. The areas of interest are simple for them, they nest in complete freedom to make way for a real family made up of many small cockroaches: the females produce up to 40 eggs per act and that is an incredible number.
Plant against cockroaches: the natural repellent
The first thing to do is to keep the house clean, without crumbs or open containers in the pantries. The cockroach does not like clean places without food, so it is necessary to have a little more hygiene. Then there’s another plant that cockroaches hate. It is called tansy, with its deep yellow flowers and intoxicating aroma. This is definitely the best way to keep insects away, as the smell of camphor is unbearable for these insects.
There are also intense odors that they do not tolerate, namely:
- Marseille soap, through a solution in a container of water. Simply spray it on the upholstery and in the corners of the house to scare away cockroaches;
- Essential oils usually have a strong, unpleasant smell, especially rosemary. Last but not least, the plant will be placed in different strategic corners of the house;
- The same goes for catnip, a natural pesticide that can be placed in different corners of the house. Of course, with due attention to the pets present.
