When we wash clothes during the autumn and winter seasons, it is common to experience particularly humid days, which can cause bad smells in the clothes. To remove the musty smell from clothes you can adopt many natural remedies. Discover the tricks to always have your clothes scented even when there is a lot of humidity.

Mix Marseille soap with baking soda.

An infallible remedy against the musty smell is the mixture of Marseille soap and baking soda. This compound allows you to completely eliminate bad odors from your clothes, obtaining an intoxicating aroma. Simply add 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of Marseille soap into the detergent compartment. The result will be incredible!

Use vinegar along with baking soda.

Another natural and effective compound is the one that consists of a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda. It is an excellent remedy against the smell of humidity. In this case, it is preferable to first put a cup of vinegar in the washing machine and then start a second wash with baking soda. You can also add a few drops of essential oil to make your clothes even more scented!

An excellent remedy is citrus vinegar.

If you prefer to use an alternative remedy to vinegar, you can opt for citric acid. This product has excellent softening properties and can also completely remove the musty smell from clothes. We recommend dissolving 75 grams of citric acid in 500 ml of warm water and about 10 drops of scented essential oil. For each laundry wash you can use 100 ml of this solution and the result will be incredible!

An infallible trick is the centrifuge

Another remedy against the musty smell is also the use of the centrifuge. It is usually preferable to opt for a minimum of 800 rpm, so as not to wrinkle the clothes too much. However, if you don’t have the opportunity to dry your clothes in the sun, we recommend increasing the spin speed.

Drying is very important

To combat the smell of humidity, drying is very important. In fact, we recommend that you immediately take the clothes out of the washing machine once the wash is finished and immediately take them outside. If the day is too humid and raining, we recommend choosing a room where your clothes can dry quickly and where there is always a change of air.

Opt for natural dehumidifiers

A remedy against humidity is also that of natural dehumidifiers. You can make very useful dehumidifiers with your own hands to combat the smell of humidity. You will only need to get some coarse salt, a few jars and some pieces of plastic to close them. You can place the jars under the clothesline or on windowsills, to counteract moisture naturally. This is an excellent remedy against humidity! Your clothes will look perfect and always fragrant.
