It is possible to grow an orchid without roots. This is the method you should follow to revive it and make it bloom again. You should not throw it away at all.
The orchid is a plant that does not require much care and is therefore widely found in homes as an ornamental plant. Certainly, however, you have to be careful, otherwise your orchid will die and it won’t be easy to get it to recover. So, commit to following the little secrets necessary to have a healthy and flourishing orchid. First of all, position, temperature and exposure to the sun are very important. For this reason, it is advisable to place the orchid in a place in the house where there are no drafts and where there are no radiators. Then we recommend a temperature of about 20°C and finally light that is not directly exposed to the sun.
Then watering is also very important, the plant must always be moist, not dry and not full of water. If these small steps are not followed, the plant could have consequences, flowers that fall, leaves that turn yellow and rotten roots that must be cut irretrievably. Let’s look at the latter case, i.e., growing an orchid without roots.
Here’s what you should do when you have a rootless orchid
When you have an orchid with rotten roots, it’s better to cut them down than to leave them there. For this reason, the first thing we must do is remove the orchid from the pot and cut all the rotten roots with scissors. In case you have to delete them all, don’t worry and do it. In fact, there is a way to regrow completely healthy roots and now we’ll look at it. Once you have completely cut the roots, remove the branches as well and carefully cut the base where the roots attach. At this point you can pour a little turmeric or cinnamon on the latter to disinfect the area and prevent it from getting moldy.
In addition, he will perform the procedure compared to what is usually done. Normally the roots are poured into water but this time we will throw the leaves in water. Just take a glass, absolutely transparent as it must pass through the light, and put the leaves inside with about 4 or 5 centimeters of water. To prevent the root from falling out, all you need to do is use a toothpick. At this point all you have to do is wait. In the first 15 days you will see very small bumps and therefore it means that the method is working. You’ll start to see roots of a few centimeters after 3 or 4 months. Always remember to add water when it finishes in the glass.
When the roots reach about 6 centimeters long, it will be time to transplant the orchid. This orchid will have a hard time holding on to the ground so we will use more products to plant it: clay balls, pine bark and moss to speed up rooting. We always take a plastic cup and make incisions at the bottom as if it were a vase. We add the clay balls to the bottom that will help with drainage, then cut the pine and moss. At this point we nebulize the moss abundantly with a spray and add the orchid. Finally add more pine bark. Here’s your reborn orchid.
