How to Propagate Orchids
It’s good to remember that every orchid is different and may require slightly different care. If we want to propagate orchids from the floral twigs of our plants, we can do so using some elements, such as the skin of half a potato. It is one of the excellent organic substances to help sprouts grow very quickly.
To do this, we must put the peel in the blender with 200 ml of water, then filter, and choose the flowering stems of the growing plants, because with this treatment they will receive many nutrients. Then we cut the stem with many small shoots crosswise with a cutter, then we put the stem in a small glass jar into which we pour the potato juice for 20 minutes. In this way, the plant will absorb the necessary nutrients.
Now pour a teaspoon of cinnamon into a glass and dissolve it with two fingers of hot water, filter the liquid and add 0.05 liters of water. Wet a cotton ball with this solution and rub the stem placed in the water with the juice of the potato peel. This will serve to disinfect the plant well. Then the two ends are sealed with the edge of a candle. Now you use moss and place it in a plastic tray. Wet it with cinnamon-flavored water, squeeze it well, and place it in a fruit tray for recycling with holes. Now we can put the sealed stem on top and cover with cling film, then make holes in the plastic with a toothpick and place it in a cool, lit place, at a temperature of about 25°.
However, direct sunlight should be avoided. Check the soil moisture level and mist the plant with water regularly. After just a month we will see the plant sprout, you will have to spray periodically to keep the moist stem always in the same position. After 4 months our plant is growing beautiful and leafy, both in the leaves and in the roots. In this simple way we can propagate orchids from twigs and we can move the plant to an outdoor environment, with its own pot where we can sprinkle the moss and the plant.
